Artifact has lost over half its active playerbase in a week

So it had a half-life of less than a week.
Completely different genre. Terraria is one of these games that you can literally play all the time and is meant to be rather time consuming.
Artifact is just a card game.
This is play count by account. Not concurrent numbers as the topic here is.
I want to grab gabe by his big turgid teats and get my face really close to his face and ask him what are you doing you used to be a hero as the sweet syrup drips from his nipples
shame
game's neat
I don't expect valve to ever make half-life 3.
But they need a return to single-player story driven games, that was the bread and butter of their company, it's what the fans know them for.
They proclaimed they had like 2 or 3 proper games in the works, but have divulged absolutely no information about them in favor of focusing on CS:GO, the rare TF2 or VR update, and Artifact.
They never made any announcements about any new games after Portal 2. Only this year they revamped their website, bought the Firewatch studio and made a public announcement that they are "finally releasing games again" after focusing on VR hardware for so long.
I could've sworn someone said they had singleplayer games in development over there. Maybe I guess I got rused, then.

"You spoke. We listened. Our pay- players have always seen us as their cat - Loyal, friendly, and loved - and it's our duty to stay that way" said Gabe Newell at a conference held in a Wal-Mart in Bellevue.
He also stated that it would be released next Thursday.
"Just scroll through the new releases, it should be there somewhere. I don't know."
"Hopefully, this will have been worth the weight. Hah, remember that joke? Very epic."

They said they were working on 3 games in that Reddit AMA a year or 2 ago.
It wasn't in the AMA, but at their roundtable event weeks later. Gabe said they are working on 3 VR games. In the AMA someone asked if Valve is working on SP games to which he replied yes. Then later someone asked if there's a chance of another game set in the HL/Portal universe to which he again replied yes. That's all. People keep mixing up these two events.
If enough people start gifting HDTF eachother as a joke, maybe one day, we will see Hunt Down The Borealis, the half-life 3 closure we needed
It's now peaking at less then 15 thousand, and bottoming at 7 thousand.
at this point i want this to be an absolute disaster just so valve will suffer
Valve will not be hurt at all just from releasing one failed game
Is the name 'Artifact' a subversive reference to how the game is going to be rediscovered in 100 years and immediately forgotten about?
On the flip side though, from what we've been told the people who were interested in making stuff like Portal 2 were essentially glassed by internal politics due to not turning a microtransaction profit on a critically acclaimed landmark in gaming. Maybe not turning a microtransaction profit on a critically reviled landmark in microtransactions can get the people who pushed this line of thinking culled en mass as well.

Is this new? Because oof
It's been like that since launch.
Nope, that's been offered since launch.
Honestly, if they wanted a card game they should have made a valve universe crossover as the theme. Half life cards, portal cards, etc.Lower the microtransactions and it would have actually been good
but nah lol
