• Steam Is Banning Sex Games With Young-Looking Characters

What the hell does gameplay have to do with whether a piece of content is considered degenerate? Pretty sure I can find tons of games on Steam with poorer gameplay than the average hentai VN, what with quality control being nonexistent on this platform.
Are not a few hypocrites in making the relation "loli hentai = wanting to fuck children in real life"? Doesn't that mean that everyone of you wants to blow someone head in real life because you play FPS games? I personally dislike loli hentai, but this makes a dangerous precedent to any "Anime style" videogame if the developer can be ban if some Valve employee thinks that one of the characters "looks like a children". Valve needs to be cristral clear what is allowes on Steam once for all and communicate more with the developers.
How young is young? Is this just an attempt to get a load of milf porn on to steam?
you gaben be gushing for grannies
The guidelines are largely for realistic art while Manga anime styles are pretty far removed from any kind of realism when it comes to anatomy so lot of it is kinda up for interpretation
If someone enjoys 'loli hentai' they are going to be sexually attracted to children. That doesn't mean they will do it in real life. Like how someone can fantasize about murder, without ever doing it.
Controversial opinion: I don't approve of loli, but if it keeps people with pedophiliac inclinations from ever seeking out real CP, that's a net positive. Because at least then they're harming no one other than themselves.
I love FPS games and I can't even think about taking someone life as fun enjoyable thing. I don't think that that comparison is right.
Sure you could. My point was that when there isn’t much gameplay, chances are you’re playing it for something else. Beating your meat for example. It’s sorta like how Trier can make a movie depicting horrible stuff, but the crowd probably won’t be the same as the latest slasher flick. Obviously qualifying why one piece of content is degenerate and a different one isn’t is complex - your less than charitable reading of my argument isn’t really making it easier, though.
The difference between the two is this. People (usually) don't play FPS games because they enjoy killing people, it's other aspects that appeal to them. People who watch porn do so because they are sexually aroused by the content of it. Most people aren't going to watch porn they dislike.
Why do you think it'd be impossible to enforce? If the enforcer says it's unacceptable, then it is.
I already mentioned that.
You are comparing two different things: People enjoy playing FPS because they enjoy killing the fictional things of the game (Monsters, Zombies, Aliens, Fictional humans), that is what appeal to them. And yeah, people watch porn because they enjoy watching the content of it. But that doesn't mean that they enjoy it in real life, because they understand the difference of reality vs fiction. That is called "Fantasy". In both cases, you can enjoy the most fucked up stuff (Gore of Horror movies or weird fetish stuff on Porn) and you don't want it to happen in real life. Example: If you enjoy these doujins where a girl is raped by 3 bald guys, that doesn't mean that you want it to happen to your girlfriend. If you enjoy killing people with an axe on some game, you don't want to do it to some person on the street.
I know that this topic is hard to agree upon since this depends on how we value social norms, but surely if the thought of a child is sexually arousing to someone, they should seek help instead of trying to shelter themselves in a fictional fantasy? Fiction or not, you're still exercising the idea of a sexual encounter with a child for the sake of enjoyment and self-fulfillment. How do you shut off that part of yourself that finds children sexually attractive once you step into society?
As far as I know: People do not choose to be pedophiles. That type of attraction is how they are born. They can't turn it off. The choice is to act or not to act.
Studies conflict about whether it helps or encourages pedophilia behavior. That means we don't know and that also means this entire arguement about "if it does help" is wishful thinking as much as "it encourages it" is. In addition, please drop the "but how can you tell?" arguement. Its insulting and it ignores the fact that in most countries they subscribe to 'You know it when you see it', but it most famously applies to the United States whose official judge of explicit material is in fact that guideline. Also pedophilia isn't a fucking sexuality its a fetish you bozos. That's like saying someone is born a furry or some shit. Like all fetishes, its a learned urge.
Fiction is fiction, whether its porn or not. You don't see furries going out and raping animals because they masturbate to furry porn on daily basis. They're not going to seek help because they will be reported due to mandatory reporting laws that most countries have and have their lifes ruined. And honestly I'd rather see pedos whack it to loli than repress their urges and start acting out.
Actually about the first one, several anonymous questionnaires with furries puts Zoophiles at 20% or so and its almost bimonthly that some sick fuck gets outted and then hugboxed while outer gets harassed.
That does make sense tbh. My country is ass-backwards at the moment and not progressive at all, so there's really no way to get help regarding that without being stigmatized and shunned. I was hoping that other parts of the world had things going a bit better.

Got any studies to back this up? I've never even seen anything that says fetishes are explicitly learned either.
It's not settled science like they think it is. In fact, some studies have indicated the exact opposite of what they're aruging: that the reason people are pedophiles is because their brains are cross-wired so their sexual instinct activates upon seeing children - instead of their nurturing instinct like in most people.
It was one study, there has not been any attempt to replicate the results.
People here are being so damn dishonest in comparing playing violent games with playing fucking games where the goal is to fuck little girls.
Please read my posts. I already said that people can have fantasies they do not act on:
The general consensus in the scientific community right now is that lolicon doesn't normalize pedophilia, however more studies have to be made on the subject. AFAIK (And I'm not a sociologist) the point is that attraction to lolicon doesn't necessarily involve attraction to real children and that lolicon doesn't suddenly turn a "normal" individual into a lolicon simply by existing.
Actually, after having looked at the results from the research you mentioned which was by Professor Cantor who works in Toronoto. In his research, he found that even when wired differently, a lifetime of experiences molded their predisposition and pushed them toward pedophilia and that he cautions against anyone using his work to state that pedophilia is born into explicitly. So you're unfortunately using his data in a way that he has said not use it for.
Enlighten me, what is the difference? Both are things that are terrible to do in real life, why is one accepted and the other is "dishonest" to defend when we talk about fiction? To me, both are the exact same thing
Because first of all, if you're in the United States. Both are protected. So no distinction is made in the first place. Secondly, Violence and Love are about as far apart as you can get when it comes to emotional and instinctual levels for humans. Some people(read: people who need mental help) bridge the gap but by and large when you're killing someone, you're also not popping a boner and thinking of fucking their corpse. They trigger the brain entirely differently, and maybe they use the same kind of chemicals but they do not illicit the same reaction so from a foundation and biological level you're fucking wrong.
Fair enough. So where's your evidence that it is absolutely settled that pedophilia is learned?
