Just take it to netflix, amazon, or HBO. They have proven themselves to take risks on weird properties and their risks have paid off so they would be likely to do an honest adaptation rather than MGM who wants to end James Bond because they can't make their money back off one of the most iconic franchises in cinema
Because now its no longer "safe". A good chance of doing well is no longer good enough. After all, why take a risk when you can bank on a tried and true formula and make a billion dollars. After all, that's the only thing that ultimately matters. It kinda kills me to think that there are a ton of scripts out there for crazy original ideas. Now I'm sure a lot are genuine crap, but there is probably something that might create the next huge hit or franchise. But because there is a chance it might not do well, it won't see the light of day.
And he is also very open about the corruption in Russian politics and declined an invitation to the presidential council for culture because he saw that as the powers that be trying to tame him.
Oh come on, Hollywood didn't do anything wrong to video game movies- https://i.imgur.com/8vmP9YN.png nevermind
For all of Hollywood's message of diversity, they sure are afraid to make movies based on other cultures.
Hollywood makes movies that appeal to Americans and Chinese, some more than others. It's not super obvious to us, but if you look for it you'll notice not many movies portray China in a negative light.
Didn't the Red Dawn remake have to digitally replace Chinese emblems with North Korean emblems in order to not offend China?
Yep, that was exactly the reason. China was pretty angry with the premise of the film. So they changed the entire film in post so they could air it in Chinese cinema.
