Jordan Peterson is a self avowed liberal who believes in many different liberal tennants like "free healthcare" or "equal rights". I don't like him, I'm not defending him, but if you're just going to straight up make shit up about who people are, I don't see a recourse besides to push back on that. Why is there a rush to falsify details to further push agendas? Why are people more interested in outrage, and getting mad at fake shit that is easily verified or looked into, than they are at finding the truth or getting to the bottom of a situation?
It's easier to get mad at something and simplify the world with that info rather than looking into it more and realize you're wrong and there's more too it. I've done that a few times and am not proud of just simplifying the world based on what a friend said or showed.
Shitty media fishing for clicks with "THINK OF THE CHILDREN" rethoric, if they honestly cared about the children they would have warned PewDiePie or even Youtube about it instead of making a news piece giving E;R even more attention.
not really relevant to the thread I suppose but Peterson is economically liberal and that's it. he's a pretty classic christian social conservative.
Random shout out to an edgy anime reviewer gets 5 pages of hot discussion Now that is what I call outrage culture
Can you substantiate this for the "class"? I've heard him express, in his own words, liberal views that only 15 years ago were standard "Lefty" views. Yes, our overton window has shifted, but can we actually classify him as an "Alt-righter" based on being "conservative"?(A canadian conservative is considerably less right wing than an american counterpart)
Jordan Peterson is a full on hyper-christian fascist who thinks that women shouldn't be allowed to work and assigned to male partners like we're in Mad Max. Alongside his homophobia, transphobia and every other phobia you can think off. If he's a liberal than I'm the fucking queen of England.
lol no he doesn't I'm done honestly if we're just going to believe clickbait bullshit rather than look even one step further, I'm done. dumb me or call me a gullible fool, but I'm out of any conversation that just straight up divorces itself from reality this badly he said stupid things, I don't agree with said stupid things, but I don't know how you could interpret these statements to be this way without intentionally trying to alter the narrative for your own sake.
https://jordanbpeterson.com/media/on-the-new-york-times-and-enforced-monogamy/ Here's a post on his website of him defending his weird fucking "enforced" monogamy idea where men essentially collectively bully women into never dating anyone because apparently we're all fucking gibbons who get too violent when we don't get any puss. Here's an embarrassing interview with vice where he says that women should stop wearing makeup and high heel in the workplace because that's why they get sexually assaulted. https://youtu.be/blTglME9rvQ
"Frozen served a political purpose: to demonstrate that a woman did not need a man to be successful." "Frozen was propaganda, pure and simple." "The idea that women were oppressed throughout history is an appaling one" "I would not support gay marriage if it was what the left wanted" "feminists support muslims because of their unconscious desire for brutal male domination" "does casual sex necessitate state tyranny?" "a women who wears makeup in the workplace is hypocritical to complain of sexual harassment" "men and women don't know how to work together (we don't know the rules?)" also a climate change denier. there are no shortage of examples really. also https://i.redd.it/q7p8bzgcae321.jpg also heavily features on PragerU.
Alright man You believe your propaganda. I'm going to be over here trying to figure out the real situation. If you actually read that piece, it doesn't advocate for that, it's literally a thought experiment that doesn't go any further than BEING a thought experiment. It's not serious, it's not "this is the solution". But hey, you think that's what it said, how dare I contradict that. That vice bit? That's not nearly as damning as you think it is when explained in any context(Which all things need). From a biological, evolutionary perspective, high heels, makeup, and other external choices are sexualized choices, from the perspective of biology and evolution that's what they are. He never took a stance as to whether or not they shouldn't where it, he asked it as a rhetorical question to prompt further discussion on the subject, but hey, again, there's only one way to skin a cat round these parts. Like I said, I'm done. Continue as you were, I'm starting to feel utterly insane because going against the group here is getting to be worse than it was years ago.
Don't forget "This happened in the 60s, as far as I can tell, that we got this misbegotten idea that the way to conduct yourself as a responsible human being was to hold placards up to protest to change the viewpoints of other people and thereby usher in the utopia."
i'm not sure any of those statements are truly out of context. they we're lifted from talks or whatever (some actually verbatim) for brevity but absolutely none of them have ever been expanded on by him to mean or imply something significantly different
I don't think a discussion about enslaving women to stop them from having more than one partner is one that's really needed tbh but maybe that's just me???
"Ha ha just curious"
You know as well as I do I’m not supporting that, nor did he state that as a solution lol
This reminds me of an essay I saw on r/paradoxplaza a few months about how Paradox are very likely not Neo-Nazis, but they have created a friendly environment for them to thrive in. He cites how in Hearts of Iron, there is a very strong emphasis on awful Allied and Comintern events to the point of making them game mechanics, such as the USSR's Great Purge or South Africa's apartheid state; however the Axis get nothing in terms of their tragedies, especially with regards to Germany and Japan, despite the effect it did have on their country. He also mentioned how even mentioning any Axis tragedies would result in an immediate ban at their official forums, whereas Allied and Comintern events got a free pass. The author went on to stress that he in no way thinks Paradox or their community managers are purposefully doing this. He added that adding the Holocaust as an option wouldn't improve the game in any way; if anything, it would detract from it. His conclusion was that they are not Neo-Nazis, but they sure do a lot of things that appeal to them. If I could find the post, I would link it, but I'm afraid it might have been deleted since.
Are we really going to the point where you people who know me to be a left wing poster start assuming that because I’m bringing up a different view that I’m somehow sympathetic to it? Why cant I just be annoyed at obvious exaggerations and clickbaity shit?
No, I'm just saying that I don't buy it being an innocent thought experiment created in a vacuum.
Nobody has to ask that, actually, because it's a completely meaningless non sequiter, but nice try.
Dawg, nobody's going to listen to you if you keep throwing tantrums and just say that you're right without actually citing your sources and showing people that you know what you're talking about
I think you have it wrong. You're not wrong to be a "free speech absolutist", depending on what that... means, exactly. But the reason we should defend all speech (including horrible speech, which does exist) is because we cannot trust anyone with the authority to judge speech. Attacks on free speech are like a battering ram against a door. And the person using the battering ram is trying to get to some asshole hiding behind the door. But the problem is, everyone else is being protected by that door as well. So they might bust down the door and take out the one asshole, but that door is now wide open for anyone to come in and fuck over the innocent people inside. We don't all have different free speech protections. There's one free speech, and threatening it in once instance threatens it everywhere.
Oh, I'm sure you *could* "help" but make an irrational connection between the iron-fisted, draconian policy of helping people see through dishonest sophistry and literal witch trials if you put your mind to it.
I absolutely agree that's the message it sends. But, any idea could be shut down and censored whether it's a true and good idea or not, but logically you would expect bad ideas to die on their own; if they're bad ideas it should be possible to demonstrate why they're bad. Meanwhile all good ideas will survive criticism, hence the phrase "the truth does not fear investigation". So no, an idea being shut down by draconian policies doesn't let you conclude that it's not a bad idea, it could either be a wrongfully censored good idea, or a bad idea that's being ineffectively tackled.

For someone who supposedly doesn't like Peterson you're pretty quick to defend him and his ludicrous claim that hes a liberal. He does videos for PragerU, promotes Sargon of Akkad, Ben Sharpio and Rick Rubin. If he's left, he's slightly left of Franco. What's the context that could possibly make any of the quotes Crumpets posted make any of the shit Peterson says make sense? For that matter, how does promoting E;R not come off as an endorsement of whatever he's selling?
His audience is like 18-25 mostly dude.

I'd hate to be pewdiepie and having to dish out insincere apologies just to appease to these terrible journalists who just go after him because he's the #1 subscribed channel on youtube, as if he ever asked to be. He doesn't pretend to be a child-friendly channel anymore, that shit died back in the Amnesia let's play days. He's not Atlas with the world on his shoulders trying to keep the hordes of 9 year olds that still watch him from becoming nazis because they heard the n word on the bridge in PUBG, he's a tiny swedish man making meme videos. He was never sorry, he's just sorry he has to deal with this brainlet shit from people who just go for the low-hanging fruit for clicks and outrage, and I don't blame him.
