Teacher refused to use trans student's pronouns, school fires him.

No, full stop, don't drag the conversation around. I'm saying directly, racism and transphobia are equal. If you are either, you are a shithead. If you support or argue for others to do the same, that also makes you a shithead.
And that's not even going into how shitty of an argument "lmao just get thicker skin" is. I used to use that all the time, but then I realized that's literally a blanket defence used by idiots nowadays to excuse themselves from being shitheads. We're not talking about some person being offended from a slip-up and trying to play it up as if it's an issue, we're talking about a teacher causing a hostile environment through transphobic discrimination because of a misguided religious dogma that they've manipulated into their way of thinking.
If you are defending this teacher, no ifs, ands, or buts, you are a shitty person and seriously need to re-evaluate why you justify being a shithead to other people is okay.
Yeah I get this too, it makes conversations very stumbly and unnatural.
I don't know how to overcome that.
I can definitely understand why the older generations don't want to take part in it. Must be hard to understand it.
Just becomes easier over time, overcoming it. At the end of the day though, let people be who they want to be, as long as it doesn't effect anyone negatively.
haha bullshit
at the gates of heaven, no one will judge you for being at the least respectful to another person
I think it's a language problem for many, not a tolerance problem.
Even an old dog has to learn new tricks in order to survive in this world, and outdated notions about trans being unnatural are on the way out. You'll just have to deal with it because that's the way things are, and it's only a pronoun, not a whole new way of addressing them.
100%, I was moreso referencing the whole older people not wanting to be a part of it.
There's a basic level of respect you have to still give people though by default, there's no getting away from that.
Like if they prove themselves to be pillocks or whatever fine, but not before that happens
Worst part is for using religion for an excuse to be a shitty person is that at the end of the day, it isn't up to them to judge others. When everyone dies under that religion, God judges, not them.
No. I demand that you address to me as God and if you don't you're an asshole according to Codemaster85. It's human decency.
Imagine losing your job because you didn't call someone He or She depending on the person.
There's differences between human decency and trying to support a delusion, though. Delusions include wanting to be called "god" even though you can't prove it.
After knowing what they prefer to be called due to their gender dysphoria, which is a life threatening condition if not treated? Yeah, crazy
I didn't mean in the way of being a piece of shit, I meant in the way of being stubborn about it, like you can't just call them what they want to be referred to as, instead you act stubborn for no good reason.
Except there is Science and fact behind transgenderism, not for thinking you're a God or what ever strawman you'll come up with
If he had kept himself to himself, he wouldn't have lost his job, instead of insisting like a pillock about his religion being greater than common decency. I'm pretty sure jesus was much more forgiving when it came to this kind of thing, and said that people needed to get over a lot of shit and learn to look harder at themselves.
Ohhhh, I see the meaning now. Sorry
I wasn't aware god was a gender. Unless you mean the old gods whom ascended above sex/gender.
The rules for transgenderism says I don't have to prove my gender identity empirically or submit myself to examination to support my claim.
I don't have to prove that I'm a he or she to be treated as such.
You're working overtime to make sure people don't respected your imput then.
I advise you stop posting before you embarrass yourself further
The instant of people reading what I said as, I'm on HIS side, no, when you're a stubborn twat about something and have no reason to be doing so, you haven't a leg to stand on and should accept that their mental health is the concern, should you choose to be stubborn about it.
You don't have to prove your gender either though.
It's not, no one said it is
I encourage him to post more. His stupidity is quite entertaining.
I'd recommend trying to reword it. I wasn't certain exactly what you meant but it came across to me the same as how SIRIUS interpreted it.
im pretty fuddy duddy and i have zero understanding of transgenderism but ive resolved to respect people who respect me whether i understand them or not
this concept is clearly beyond your grasp
I swear you cant fucking read. I said catmonkey the 5th as a nickname, not a pronoun. Both nicknames and pronouns are the same amount of effort when acknowledging someone.
Imagine if your teacher refused to refer to you as a boy, instead opting for something disrespectful that doesn't represent who you are. Calling someone by their proper gender doesn't infringe upon your beliefs, the same way handling pig meat as a cashier doesn't infringe on your beliefs, and you should be expected to handle them without making a fuss. If you as a cashier feel like you can't handle meat because you're a vegetarian, or you feel like you have the right to constantly tell customers that they're animal abusers, don't expect to be kept around for long.
Being a teacher involves creating an environment where the kids can learn. If your beliefs aren't helping in that regard (let's say you're a biology teacher, and you don't believe in evolution), you leave your beliefs at the door.
When I opened the thread, I expected it to have been something like this, only to see a jackass teacher refusing to have any kind of basic human decency over "my religion". It's not hard to treat others well and with some shred of respect, especially if you're a teacher, and you're not going to be a good one if you treat your students like shit.
He made a 'compromise' which isn't a compromise at all, it's an avoidance of the subject matter. The person in matter wants to be treates as a him. The teacher's compromise was to take pronouns out of the matter completely, which is where the dehumanizing factor comes from, followed by the student feeling a hostile enviroment in a place of learning. It has nothing to do with being a snowflake or wanting a hugbox, your teacher is disrespecting you personally. I've had a similar issue with a teacher treating me and a few other students like shit because the man just straight didn't like me, and I can guarantee it makes the class work out like utter shit because the person you're meant to learn from isn't someone that respects you and can lead to FURTHER problems down the line. Having shit teachers is always a huge issue, especially in public education where you really might not have a choice but to have to deal with them.
After all this, the teacher gets a lawyer, bitching about some sort of consitutional right. It reminds me of the whole cake thing a while back, no, you don't have a right to disrespect your students based on your religion. You can act like a jackass, but then, your employer can and WILL fire you. I'd have understood if it were a mistake, hell, I'm clumsy and airheaded and I'd probably mix up the him/her pronoun a few times, but I'd certainly apologise if I made a mistake. He didn't make a mistake. He was warned by the school NOT to do something, and he refused to. That's enough of a reason for him to get sacked. In fact, that's exactly what the article states he was fired for. Insubordination. I'm not sure why there's people arguing about it like he has any right in the matter. You might not like transgendered people, but it's retarded to argue in favor of this teacher when he had specific instruction not to do something and he did. Would you keep an employee that went against your instructions?
Then we are agreed because I didn't say god as a gender either.
