Teacher refused to use trans student's pronouns, school fires him.

Personally "they" sounds really weird to me pretty much in any situation where someone's gender is readily apparent.
using they/them until you know somebody's preferred pronouns is fine. continuing to use they/them when you find out somebody's pronouns isn't, since at that point you're being disrespectful in refusing to use that person's actual pronouns.
that being said, nonbinary people who use they/them pronouns (like me) do exist. which is why you shouldn't assume what somebody's pronouns are.
Teacher refused to use trans student's pronouns
????????????????
The teacher never purposely kept calling him a woman, check mate 😏👉.
You should know by now with SG and semantics.
Misgendering literally means calling someone the wrong gender. You can't misgender someone by calling them their name.

Hey look, Codemaster can foretell the future!
Really though, you're just arguing semantics here and missing the bigger picture. Something I'm sure you're actually aware of since it's been explained repeatedly in the thread and you're not an idiot, regardless of how much you like to pretend.
In your efforts to be so contrarian I am amazed that you still have a spine considering how many tricks you have to pull off to come to this point.
woah there buddy i think you dropped your glasses so i picked them up for you
I mean it's kinda funny that your whole line of argumentation was literally predicted in this thread
You are "Semanticgenius"man91.
They need to change the definition of intellectual dishonesty to your name.
You know god damn well what this guy was doing.
Why don't you go back to crying about how facepunch is a "far-left bubble" despite the fact that people like Sanius were universally despised.
Or just not posting.
Honestly if I thought nothing I said was getting through and was utterly convinced that the place I was posting in had become a far-right bubble I'd probably just stop contributing. I can't imagine going on crusades to educate the filthy masses of, say, /pol/ or r/conservative. I literally can't name more than a few message boards/subreddits that are further right than FP and aren't outright hate sites like Stormfront.
@Laika what is "baby" about this post
You live in a country that still has hereditary titles of nobility, do yoh not? These hereditary nobles usually expect a certain level of etiquette when interacted with, especially on formal occasions. These nobles did nothing to earn that title other than being born. If you were to meet one of these individuals then I expect that you'd afford them the level of respect that polite society expects you to give them (Calling them sir, or whatever appropriate term is used to refer to said persons).
Now as an American I couldn't give less then a fifth of a shit about nobility. Yet even I would still abide by proper etiquette in their presence because its what is expected of one who is a member of polite society.
The same should be true of trans people should it not? You may disagree with them, you may personally dislike them, but at the same time you shouls refer to them by their preferred pronouns. If for no other reason then its polite and reasonable for you to do so.
The religious beliefs thing is a thinly veiled excuse for bigotry. I doubt this man can find a passage in the bible that would show transgender people to be sinful or contrary to his religion. The tired argument of "God doesn't make mistakes, thus these people are lying" is laughable and contradicted by the very existence of birth defects. I have yet to have anyone, including theologians, provide me with an adequate reason for transgenderism being sinful or an affront to God.
Gender is never readily apparent though. It's literally an invisible social construct.
I have friends who go by they/them pronouns. You get used to it really, really quickly, but you do have to put a little bit of effort in. It's not that hard.
I agree that it's respectful to use someone's preferred pronouns over they/them, but after asking lots of non-binary people in VRChat about using they/them. I disagree that it's disrespectful to always use they/them, because it's less of you avoiding saying their preferred gender, and just avoiding gender entirely.
So for @Chryseus2 @Sgman91 @Laika and whoever else.
Calling someone by their name isn't what people are calling misgendering, it's the blatant motive of doing so as a way to be like "haha fuck you im not gonna acknowledge your gender you freak".
You know; context.
Just letting you all know since you are clearly confused.
It depends on the person, some people are not going to be pleased if you consistently refer to them with they/them when they prefer a gendered pronoun. Others don't really care.
were you the kind of kid that would hover their finger an inch from someone's face, and yell that you're not touching them when you're told to stop?
I hope I don't run into anyone like that, I'd do my best, but I've been training myself to not use gendered pronouns. There's a good chance I'd mess up a bunch...
is there a reason you're doing that? I'm curious
Gender and sex are the same thing
great to see you literally come right out of the ban with the ball rolling.
Is having an opinion bannable? I don't believe it is
It stops being an opinion when it's factually wrong. And it starts being factually wrong when the majority of the professional field regarding the subject agrees you're wrong.
This isn't opinion, you're stating a fact. A fact that has been proven false by tons of historical records and modern medical journals.
I feel like I'm the factually correct one in this situation but okay
Gender is the range of characteristics pertaining to, and differentiating between, masculinity and femininity. Depending on the context, these characteristics may include biological sex (i.e., the state of being male, female, or an intersex variation), sex-based social structures (i.e., gender roles), or gender identity. Traditionally, people who identify as men or women or use masculine or feminine gender pronouns are using a system of gender binary whereas those who exist outside these groups fall under the umbrella terms non-binary or genderqueer. Some cultures have specific gender roles that are distinct from "man" and "woman," such as the hijras of South Asia. These are often referred to as third genders.

its right there in the wikipedia page, if you don't believe it that's your own fault
Well there's your problem right there. You're operating on feelings and not logic.
