• Valve on future Artifact updates: 'We're in this for the long haul"

it feels weird because many of us would have watched it back then. Then the same guy did everything for Rick and Morty Bushworld Adventures
There are ways around it, such has having characters hare voices or just having the DLC be cosmetics for the characters rather than entirely new characters. Aside from characters and weapons that magically gain skins when picked up, there's not a lot they can do for DLC though.
Yeah. I've been waiting for Ricochet 2 for so long now. It's making me furious.
Should have just made the starter cards unmarketable.
I might just want to add something here. You folks do realize why this... 'statement' is recurring here? This side of the internet is easily the most vile when it comes to anti-Valve circlejerk that it created an environment so hostile that is now inhabited by the same few users scouring corners of the internet and ferrying back material just to spite them. Regardless whether your narrative is true (factually, Artifact's doing terrible at monetization and retention), the palpable scorn is... too much. Ease up a bit.
Nah, gonna call a spade a spade and declare the game to be a massive cash cow for valve to get ez money. People want to be delusional and suck off valve for taking their wallet personally, then that's on them. I rather save my cash and support good devs, while criticizing the game for what it is.
Point of my post is that it has been over two weeks since its release and the vex sentiments echoes ad nauseam even after the message was loud and clear.
It has been five years since Dead Space 3, but if anything concerning a continuation of the Dead Space franchise surfaced I'd be all in there saying that EA fucked it all up with DS3 so hard that the only good thing which came out of it was the grim assurance that a dead franchise cannot be degraded any more. What's your point?
Do you know what is happening in this thread? This isn't some news where Valve fucks up even more and deserves criticism, this is someone is monitoring a game's player count that they don't play almost EVERYDAY to drum up hatred. Please tell me that this obsession is healthy.
This is a Valve game on a forum created for a Valve mod turned into one of the original Steam indie darlings. Of course there's going to be a lot of monitoring on how it does, especially considering how it's the first big (released) universally panned project by said company ever. Especially especially because it's come bundled in a shotgun blast of news about consumer nightmares by companies which should have known better alongside Diablo Immortal, Fallout 76, and Red Dead Online? But why do I get the sneaking suspicion that you, man who defends this game in every thread about it, would have no issue with said monitoring if it was instead reporting good news? Or that you should be the absolute last one pointing fingers about "unhealthy obsessions" on this particular topic?
Don't forget the giant 180x180 animated Artifact avatar.
Which was also backed by the community with the promise that we would be able to customize it. That's a nice metaphor to Valve situation, actually - we supported them because they seemed to have great ideas, and got a nice "fuck you" in response.
To be honest I'm just rather tired of the constant outrage bleeding from this side of the forum, regardless of subject. But if this is the way of life in these parts, rage on infinitely, I suppose. I was hoping that the air of negativity would improve and people would see sense in not needlessly holler their strong opinions at every opportunity. The attack on me is rather unappreciated.
It's not a matter of offense for me, it's a matter of sheer irony. You come in here and make fun of us for being passionate about a company we used to like, and meanwhile you have a giant tramp stamp and somehow find the time to follow us around and argue.
Right back at ya.
I frequent this forum. You should realize that I pretty much accepted that Valve's current practices aren't condoned and stopped putting forth my opinions to defend them, even against uninformed posts. Yet again sometimes my emotions take control and... I slip. With due respect, if this community doesn't welcome two-sided arguments, I'll withdraw from this thread now.
"Valve's current practices aren't condoned." No shit. Valve quite frankly deserves this. No one is angry or salty. If anything it's vindication. For once a game studio releases a monetized cash cow and it fucking flopped. The company also happens to be one that has scorned their fans for years. I will happily follow the news on this game crashing and burning and hope it opens Valve's eyes to what people actually want. If anything your posts seem to display "Stop making fun of something I like!" You only care about Artifact when there has been threads non-stop shitting on Fallout 76 for two weeks. Now that is actually excessive. There's a single article about Artifact on the first page of Sensationalist Headlines, and a single one on the second page. It's not like the forum is spammed with Artifact hate.
I see... Truth to be told, there's always been threads on Artifact and Valve constantly on the first page, so I might have developed myopia. Honestly, Fallout76 bashing was excessive, even though I am not informed enough on that game to defend it, the one time I mentioned "beating a dead horse" and viola, it was met with disagreement. There are so much unwavering grudge that are left unchecked and sometimes celebrated across topics, I felt I needed to step in sometimes...
If it was anyone else saying this I would absolutely agree, but you're guilty of fuelling the outrage on the other side by constantly dismissing the opinions of people who are upset with "You're just mad Valve didn't make the game you want." I'm one of the few people here who gives a shit about Fallout 76 but I'm not going to insult people who don't like it by saying "Durr, you're just mad it isn't a single player RPG". Like, no shit. That doesn't invalidate their frustration.
Yes. My tone was aggressive and condescending. I'm trying my best to correct them, and my frustration. I won't do it again.

Considering this is a forum that was based around Garry's Mod, a mod built from the foundations of Half-Life 2, and how deeply intertwined the history of this community is with Valve's ongoing life and development, it stands to reason that you're bound to find especially vocal public circumstances about this. We predate the reddit groups, the twitter feeds, and any significant Steam discussion groups. and to be quite frank, we're not even the most vocal, there's far more volatile and hostile places out there over Artifact. If anything we're pretty much mild to moderate. And it's not out of pure, loathing spite.. or at least, not from most of us. It's because we care a lot about this stuff and are genuinely concerned about the direction Valve is opting to take. Trying to transform the topic into narrowing a counter against this "same few users" echo chamber mentality doesn't help. If anything the way you're going about trying to get people to placate and back off constant sensationalist hatred for Artifact will just put a target on your head for rebukes and zingers, as you've seen already.

Currently Artifact is 17 off from not being in the top 100 most played Steam games at all.
No more Fordon Greeman adventures.
