if they're adding micro transactions they will one hundred percent do something like that.
Wait, when does Online take place? The Cei Rigotti could totally exist
either right before or right after RDR2, so like 1899/1900 which puts it in the right timeframe for it.
It's right before, you can meet someone from the storymode who mentions he's been split off from the group before the heist that goes bad at Blackwater
And this right here is why I warned everyone I knew who expressed hype about RDR2 that they can't expect anything but microtrash-action action, because GTAO and Shark Cards taught Take Two the wrong lesson. And here we are.
Holy fuck! Imagine spending that much money on video game fun-bucks. I'm not going to sit here and pretend i've never indulged a game's micro transactions, I used to spend money on this kind of shit every so often when I was younger. But I felt guilty enough dropping £3.99 for a set of cosmetic outfits in some free to play mmo or some shit, I can't fucking believe people would drop $10- $100 on virtual currency. What the fuck has happened to the games industry?
Damn, and I doubled down on it too. This game and the non payment options in online scratch that cowboy itch of man. Fuck man.
Willing to bet the next game is a Fallout 76 equivalent flop
Sports gamers play this and GTA as well pretty much exclusively along side the yearly pewpewbangbang games so it isn't separate demographic by a long shot. And they don't care. At all. MT$ made up 70% of Take2's profit, and every current offering they list was literally already paid for by the base game. By the time people wake up to how rapine the publishers have been with these, the first of streaming assets only consoles will be out, and then you'll be wishing for microtransactions instead of paying for games by the hour whilst publishers smile and tell you how convenient and seamless it all is, the ultimate gaming experience.
Why settle for making shitloads of money when you can make even MORE shitloads of money! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I genuinely don't give a fuck. I bought the game for the SP, it was worth the money, I dumped 60+ hours of time into it and had a blast. I never intended on touching MP and never will. If people are dumb enough to waste their money on it, so be it, and that's the bottom line - if people keep spending, they're going to keep this shit up. If anything this should be a shining example of how a product CAN be amazing despite a producer forcing micro-transactions into the fray after the fact.
5-6 years ago it took me a week's worth of self-motivation to ask my dad if i could buy like £4 worth of currency in fucking spiral knights
This was bound to happen. And people knew that, and they are still gonna waste money on it.
Nothing makes my brain hurt more than the way they try to disguise scalping parts of the game behind this totally manufactured problem of not having enough in-game currency. They sneak in the in-game currency beforehand as if that's just how the game is, but hey, they just so happen to have a miracle device that turns your money into a cheat code to bypass it! Imagine if they had to sell imaginary gold bars under the pretense that they were really expensive to make.
One word. Greed
This is probably why some of my siblings defend shit like this in the gaming industry. They see it as the company giving them a gift rather than exploiting them and tricking them and ripping them off. Hell, my sister in law used that exact same reasoning to justify Nintendo giving us a subpar online service.
Neatly embodying the conflation of patriotism with capitalist consumption, the menu entry reads, “Gold Bars help you achieve the American dream of being first in line, stockpiling an arsenal, and shopping with abandon while becoming the envy of everyone around you.” It's sad to see such an amazing story about destructive greed and the blind following of vague ideals get doused in so much irony.
In Ghost Recon Wildlands you have to grind for a month doing challenges to get the new weapons. And most of the new stuff is behind paywalls where it's like $15 for a single gun. Microtransactions ruined that game, it's ruining this game too.
Hollywood has been pushing out movies with anti-corporate subtext for a while now, irony has literally no meaning anymore. It's fucking dead.
the company giving them a gift this genuinely fucking pisses me the hell off christ, it sounds utterly slimy and i fear we're going down a much more disgusting path if this shit keeps up, all while the corporate suits keep on smiling eugh
well thats one way to get microtransactions to work: Make a good game
wow they're literally saying 'pay money to shit on everyone around you' fuck they're not even subtle about it.
I'll never forgive them after putting every single new addition to multiplayer and nothing to singleplayer. I don't want to play with hackers and basicaly gold buyers. I want to play alone because I don't want people to bug me while I find cars to tune them and shit.
There is a surprising amount of gamers who're absolute retards and think game companies are their charitable friends. I saw some dumbass on the RDR reddit saying that games are art and people should buy micro-transactions to support said art. They're fucking braindead honestly.
looks like I'll be finding someone who can drop cash again when (if) it comes to PC. I made a few million legit on GTAO, eventually got dropped 25mil as there was no way I could afford any of the new shit. Not even that free 25mil was enough to keep up with the absurd amount of pricey shit they were adding.
legit me too with the same fucking game I only reached 5 star armor because I'd ask him every couple months to buy me some Energy™ in spiral knights looking back on it, that game was malicious as fuck with it's microtransactions, very mobile-like styled 'stamina'/energy system that would cost money to refill i think they actually fixed some of these with energy not even needed anymore to enter dungeons, but the game is kind of dead now so it's too late
Can't wait until it comes to PC so I can just use public cheats to drop 100M like with GTA V because Rockstar can't make an anti cheat worth a shit.
Just buy this game for the singleplayer because it is fucking amazing. Only play the multiplayer to fuck around with friends and don't pay those Take-Two assholes another cent. That's what I've been doing (except for playing with friends, I just mess around on my own) and I found the experience to be enjoyable.
how much money is enough money for game companies?
There's no such thing as enough money for them. It's all about bleeding every single consumer dry.
