Under current agricultural practices we have around sixty harvests left. Sixty years 'til the US is out of topsoil to use CO2 emissions are threatening to change the world in terrifying and destructive ways that extend way beyond just rising sea levels. The gulf stream is slowing down. Ocean acidification is eroding coastlines at a vastly increased rate and destroying the sea floor. Ocean dead zones from unsustainable farming practices are only getting worse, algae blooms are getting more frequent and much bigger because of it, choking out sea life. Increasing oceanic temperatures are set to make record breaking hurricanes less record breaking and more just business as usual around the clock. There's multiple greenhouse gas bombs set to go off as the climate warms and millenia of trapped and frozen methane and carbon thaws out and is released into the atmosphere And that's just the short list I have off the top of my head If you don't think the future is being stolen, you don't know nearly enough about the damage being done by the hundred or so private enterprises responsible for the grand majority of carbon emissions Ignorance is bliss, I guess
