They can't be applied selectively, but don't say you can't empathize with the parents for wanting to put corkscrews through the attacker's eyeballs. Imagine watching your own daughter being brutally murdered like that.
I did not say that and I do empathize with that.
In other words, cruelty and cruel treatment of other people (and animals) does indeed fuck you up too. It fucks you up in the sense that your ability to sympathize with other people (like even your family&friends) will be lessened, thus resulting in you becoming a bit of an asshole, and potentially dangerous. So no, torturing the people who cut off the girls' heads is not a good idea. Nothing good would come out of it, and no one benefits.
It is believed to be an act of terror because for all we know, the people responsible are targeting the tourist industry. It might not seem that way, if you've seen the video, but for all we know they're grunts part of a larger organization. The response would be similar if it happened in a non-Muslim country, for sure.
I've seen the videos. This kind of stuff pretty much happens daily in the third world.
What, in your mind, would this actually accomplish for society?
Maybe, but in the end, it’s just an unbinding agreement, not a law. Set an example out of them, that’s what.
Lol, I'm glad you're not in charge of anything anywhere.
Because I'm sure these kinds of people care about the consequences
I doubt killing and by extension torturing people for their crimes would set out any good example, with research suggesting it has little effect (although the conclusion is indefinite) on deterring future crime.
