• Heartbreaking CCTV shows dog being abandoned

Why is it a greater than or less than situation? What inherently makes humans more important than animals? To answer your second question though it depends entirely on context. If it was a choice between adult (or older teen) humans and a dog then I'd focus on the dog if the people were aware of the fire, otherwise I'd try to ensure they're aware of it before focusing on the dog. If it was a child then they would come first. Animals aren't going to have the ability to rationally think their way out of a burning house so it makes sense to focus more on them than a person who can navigate through a burning house a bit better.
i've lived with dogs all my life, and i had two staffordshire bull terrier that passed away this summer, we had them since they were born. their devotion to my mother was unlike any other dog, so it breaks my heart to see this little fellow abandoned
Five minutes on google would have showed the guy better avenues than just abandoning the thing on the sidewalk like that. People doing this is how I get my cats, too, and...well, it's probably part of why they can be a bit special and hard to coax into using the box, it might be why they get so unusually clingy to me, but it's just...blah. Just don't. It fucks them up mentally. If life forces your hand, take five minutes to google a solution that's not abandonment or euthenasia.
I dont think Id be able to drive away from my pet even if I was leaving them at an animal sheltere

i missed this article to begin with and was absolutely fucking heartbroken but this makes me feel better. fuck those pieces of shit who dropped him off to begin with, i couldn't even bring myself to watch the CCTV footage because i knew it would destroy me
Lol, didn’t expect “saving humans is more important than saving dogs” to be a hot take. I presume you guys are all vegans as well, right? Obviously if someone is completely capable of helping themselves out of a house fire with no real risk, help the dog out instead of them, but otherwise, wow.
