Louis C.K. Mocks Parkland Survivors, LGBTQ Teens in Leaked Standup Audio

It was at the Comedy Cellar in front of an audience. Also, most stand up material is tested in front of audiences.
I've heard the opposite, its tested in private and then on the public. Usually the really shit jokes die in private, unless you're Carlos Mencia.
Dunno where you heard that. Comics usually polish their new material by going on the road and working it out. Wouldn't make much sense to do it in front of 1 or 2 people privately.
Yeah, this isn't that surprising. His career pretty much plummeted after his whole masturbation debacle, so all that's really left for him is to appeal to red state boomers in an attempt to slow the bleeding.
Hate clicks bring in the dough for a lot of news sites now.
Dunno where people keep getting this take from. Comics will tour every state. Their first and foremost concern is if a joke is good or not, not really what the political affiliation of their audience is. Not to mention this particular set that was recorded was done at the Comedy Cellar, which is in NYC.
"You’re not interesting cause you went to a high school where kids got shot" yeah i'd like to see your expired cottage cheese lookin ass try to dodge bullets
He was likely trying out bits for a new hour he's working on.
They clearly suck and need to be reworked but not because they're offensive. I honestly don't know how you could see that as "offensive". It's just not up to snuff with better material.
Reminder that this is the same comic who had the "of course we need to protect children from peanut allergies... but maybe if we stopped worrying about it for like one year, we'd never have to worry about peanut allergies again" bit. I dunno, this feels like the same kinda schtick he's always done, Louis' persona has always been "aggressively gross schlub who says fucked up things really casually".
Like if you don't find it funny or don't like him after the whole #MeToo thing, then it's whatever, you do you, but I don't get people looking at this like "TYPICAL OUT-OF-TOUCH BOOMER, OH LOUIS CK, THIS TIME YOU'VE JUST GONE TOO FAR, HARUMPH!"
Not shocked people aren't responding well to it, since you'd think he'd go for something a little safer when recovering from that scandal, but this is the same kind of material he's always done. Just kinda feels like Rolling Stone pumping out clickbait to get at those outrage clicks like usual, tbh.
How could "Stop being upset that your friends are dead." Ever be funny? He's a popular, wealthy comedian boo hooing over his self destructed career.
Wow I was willing to give Louis some benefit of the doubt even after that whole scandle but yikes, this kinda just shut the door on that.
did you make a post asking me question and then answer your own questions in the same post
louis ck standup is like listening to some boomer's blog
Finally someone with the courage to stand up to kids that got watched their friends get murdered. They've have it good for too long!
You guys know this is just him testing out material for something big right? Usually stand ups go to smaller venues to try out jokes and see how they work
It isn't; It's an op ed without even an ounce of objectivity. 'Journalists' haven't been employed by Rolling Stone since circa 2000, since then their mantra has been to tell the public how they should feel about a subject.
like, isn't there, maybe, a bigger louis ck-related incident that would be to blame for that?
Someone send this thread to CK mom so she can send it to him
The joke is that instead of being offensive to older generations the younger generation is offended by their elders and is more Puritan and judgemental than their predecessors. It has nothing to do with economics lol
Louis CK's Politically Incorrect Comedy Didn't Change. You Did.
he has been doing similar style jokes for over a decade now whether you really want to acknowledge it or not. it's okay to have found his previous stuff funny. that's what made him a famous comedian in the first place. but let's not kid ourselves into believing that he never rode on the edge lmao
actually he's quite famous for his touching
This strikes me less as "DANG 'OLE LOUIE AT IT AGAIN" and more people trying to kick him while he's down because he's talking about topics that people instantly jump to shame people for talking about in a negative light.
The jokes suck ass, yes, but as explained in here, new material for any comedian is bound to have some bombs at first. It's all about getting reception and adjusting the material if need be.
I'm not defending him and what he did in the past, I guess I'm really just defending the concept of comedy. Comedians should be able to make light of any situation they damn well please, nothing should be taboo, lest all comedy just conforms to a boring grey blob where everything is safe because nobody wants to be offended.
Making light of issues and controversy is how we cope as humans, why should we lessen this?
yes feeble oaf is just pointing out the subtext of why he may be making that joke

If your reaction to this is "Louis has SUNK to a NEW LOW" then you've obviously never watched anything of his.
Just because both jokes are offensive doesn't mean their content or intent are the same.

Not sure if time-stamps work but hoo-boy.
"Fuck your opinion."
"Tune out negativity."
I guess it's time to tune out Louis CK? (Where's his blue check mark anyway?)
Exactly this.
My great-aunt got into the tech-field to spite social norms, and according to her, they'd gladly hire the guy who dressed like a slob as long as he knew what he was doing (and often the thought was that you have to be REALLY damn good at what you do to come to an interview dressed like that). That's not at all how it works now.
