She can respond to sound and takes notice of people who enter the room—actually reacting (in a limited capacity) to family and those that she knows—I believe they also have the capability to make mild facial expressions. This makes the situation so much worse as they were most likely aware and conscious as it all happened, yet they could do nothing about it in their disabled state.

How in the heck they didn't take notice of the pregnancy is beyond me, it's just absolutely sickening what happened here.
