"but generation snowflake or, whatever you want to call them, are actually putting us backwards.” You mean the old people who don't understand "the intertubes" making regulation still?
But Dwayne, generation snowflake are all in their 60s. That's not very young at all.
Nothing I like more than hearing a very wealthy guy talk to others about what should bother them
yeah well you can choke on my snowflake penis dwayne
“People can be who they want, be with who they want, and live how they want. That can only be a good thing – but generation snowflake or, whatever you want to call them, are actually putting us backwards.” I think this is a case of someone simply being ignorant of ongoing discrimination This is the mindset I had before I had more interaction with women/LGBT/Racial minorities Really I hate the term "check your privilege" because it's overused and not self-explanatory to someone who doesnt understand the concept, but simply put you can be blind to today's ongoing discrimination when you're a straight white male and it literrally never happens to you Granted I was 16 when I had that mindset You'd hope a 46 year old man would be a little more aware
Just for refernce, the original interview was with the quality red top The Daily Star (archive.is link, don't worry xx), and I doubt it would've been something he'd say of his own volition. They have a habit of constantly trying to rile the population up against """snowflakes""" with overblown and out-of-context claims, so I wouldn't be surprised if they tried egging him on to say something about the topic. https://i.imgur.com/QLiR7u0.jpg THE ROCK SMACKS DOWN SNOWFLAKES, says paper desperately trying to sell by making an enemy out of no-one. His comments aren't even that out there
Fuck you. You guys ruin the world and then call us generation slowflake
There goes his hypothetical presidential campaign
Idk if younger generations are easier to offend, they are just offended by other things than older generations.
I usually side with this sort of post however I believe this man worked hard for it and isn't the typical silver spoon type.
I have genuinely never heard this used unironically. At best, I've been involved in conversations or spaces where we reflected on how we're offered certain intangible privileges in life due to our backgrounds, but these were always very throughtful and don't convey the on-the-offensive nature of the term "check your privilege", which is more or less just a meme.
Just adding onto this, with the following headlines which they've recently came out with, you tell me if you think Dwayne shared his thoughts out of his own volition: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/298928/64ccba7e-cb84-4bfb-a610-2de38abcf98a/QSak5cm.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/298928/7523e0d4-ba95-4bcc-9830-a448d0cae41d/P32kCWZ.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/298928/a10db972-7b62-49bb-afbb-d46bc6f377f4/kgLgA33.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/298928/b0e520cb-82f6-4ad3-ab6d-47322d29ff81/4SJZtqU.jpg It's pretty obvious they're just trying to find a popular, culturally traditional-seeming figure to say something about ~PC culture~ out of.. Well, desperation?
Regardless of how hard he's worked, there's a grat deal of luck that plays into the success of anyone at that kind of level. This often causes this kind of survivor bias we see here
all generations just straight up suck tho
Oh yeah motherfucker see that to my face and see what happends
People can be who they want, be with who they want, and live how they want. that's just ignorant as fuck
Yeah, reiterating @SIRIUS 's sentiment, this is really easy for him to say in his position
I wanted to be a toaster when i grew up and never accomplished my goal
Can we make it rule to not share stuff from the Daily Star? They're fucking worthless.
By "This Generation" does he mean Millennial or Gen Z? Cause people seem to get the two mixed up. Also are Millennials the ones born between 198x to 1996? Or are they the ones born betwenn 1997 to 200X? Seriously though this shit is confusing and I see why they mix up the two.
whichever is more convienent
Come out as a gay satanist communist to your grandparents. They will have a shit fit. Different generations, different issues. This should just be obvious, but apparently dumb boomers don't get it.
this reminds me of 'brave offensive' comedians, seemingly only cis, male, successful mainstream ones, saying stuff like "i'm being censored simply for daring to talk about sensitive subjects" (saying so on platforms where they aren't censored) because people really only want them to be considerate about how their jokes about those subjects can end up hurting people, often of marginalized minorities
To an extent I agree but anecdotally as someone who used to work in customer service, younger people tend to be more forgiving and more resilient, while older people tend to be more entitled and easier to offend.
His criticism isn't fucking void because he's rich and accomplished, what a non sequitur.
His argument is void because it's a bad argument. That's already been figured out. It's an argument he's made BECAUSE he's rich and out of touch.
Posting articles from them directly is obviously not ok. Since the interview comes from them, I wouldn't trust it entirely. Since I follow space news generally, Google is confused and sometimes thinks I want space news from Daily Star - problem is that their space "news" 100% consists of conspiracy crap and doomsday predictions
What's wrong with purple hair?
