High school bully desperately needs attention to get that easy money for being a complete idiot on YouTube.
The faster this guy fades into irrelevance, the better off society is.
ok you do accept influence so wtf was up with last page? how isn't this in stark contrast to the shit you were just saying?
because logan paul doesn't matter. this is my only point.
The weird thing is just how quick Youtube where to pretty much scrub everything Pewdiepie related from their site by cancelling his show and not including him on that Rewind thing yet don't do the same for Logan Paul when he is arguably worse. At least with Pewdiepie it was just tasteless and offensive jokes, Logan Paul genuinely come of as a sociopath who shows no regard for other people. Him "freaking out" in that suicide forest video sounds more like he is trying to fake being shocked than anything.
It's a shame these rich fuckwads can't fall off the face of the earth.
If only the earth was flat....
i mean, if that's where we're at then sure, i can agree logan paul is a b-list e-celeb a-hole, and obviously not as big as eminem was. it just seemed like you didn't understand that cultural influence was a thing at all. it's an interesting thing to think about, especially now that smartphones are so integral to people's lives
i just didnt understand this "social influencer" thing. if someone said "logan paul has had a big influence in many kids lives" then i'd ask them to elaborate because i dont believe it.
culture change is a very wide topic and youtube statistics are not reliable in this area.
you're right about smartphone culture, and i have young kids in my family who i learn from and they tell me what others in their school do and it keeps me more informed that way.
Any publicity is good publicity. Long as he has the capacity to do or say absurd things, no matter how ridiculous or inane, he will continue to do so because it puts him in the spotlight.
I feel that a lot of people here are inadvertently speaking against sexual experimentation. It’s not wrong to try gay sex and be open about it, so while it’s expected to question his wording and intensions, I don’t think his actions alone are insensitive. So let’s criticize his attitude instead of saying it’s fundamentally wrong.
social influencer is basically, a term for the new wave of e-celebs who make content centered around themselves. they may hover around comedy and dabble in acting, but mostly don't have a set format (other than vlogging)
think of them as something in between paris hilton and pewdiepie. hell, kim kardashian is a social influencer herself. it may sound stupid, but the gist of it is that their content is usually their life (or rather a prettified, edited version of their life that sells better)
You're either acting on bad faith or you've been living in a cave for five years so allow me to put you up to speed.
The breed of youtube celebrities which have high viewership, high sub count and advertisement-heavy content are known as "influencers". They use social media as their platform of choice to promote themselves as well as other brands to an ideally strong and loyal fanbase which is putting their trust in them.
The contents they produce are not simply designed to entertain as part of their hobby or passion but are designed as fully fledged pieces of media with sponsors and ads and product placement. Due to youtube and social media's fairly fresh nature and relatively lax ruleset in comparison to TV, it makes it a great place for innovation and abuse since it remains a relative wild west. Producing content for youtube is much faster than producing content for TV and thus it can be relevant on short notice. This makes the exploitative nature of media exponentially more visible with youtube and "influencers" such as the Pauls have understood that well enough to know that, by playing their cards right, they could play up to a crowd of impressionable teenagers and make as much money as humanly possible off of them before regulation catches up.
its sad that people follow them when there's many better youtubers out there that get zero exposure.
Like RTgamer (tm)
why does it mean i live in a cave for not understanding this youtube celebrity nonsense sooner.
thanks for the information though.
Maybe you shouldn't post about it like you do understand it then if you don't want to look like a huge idiot.
meh that doesn't matter, it makes sense now
It does matter though? Making yourself look like an idiot because you didn't understand something you're talking about as if you're an authority only harms your own credibility. (Then again droning on how this isn't a big deal at all then making a good third or so of the posts in the thread going on and on about how big a deal it isn't doesn't help matters any either.)
guys logan paul isn't even a big deal
i will now proceed to shitpost about how much of a not big deal he is for 3 pages.
big deal, it's not like im FPs social influencer like "Tudd"
For someone with more than 30,000 posts you should be familiar enough with the site to know this is not the case. Look at people like Sgman or Chonch who have completely destroyed their own credibility and now aren't taken seriously by basically anyone even when they make valid points. As it turns out, tanking your credibility isn't a good way to convince people to take you seriously.
90% of those posts were in music chat threads of years gone by... r.i.p music section.
I will try to understand this business, but it's still slightly vague as I remember watching vlogs from 2006, it's only lately this new era began. I haven't missed that much.. only 2-3 years it's been going around.
Holy shit lmao
yeah bro just say no homo, it’s survival
people would be more keen to be kind to you if you weren't so dismissive
Rip, music will never be the same again.
I was reading through this thread and I was wondering why nobody shared these vids with you;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywcY8TvES6c
The video is like 40 minutes so I don't expect you to sit down it just because I'm telling you to, but there you go in case you're curious, it may be worth checking out. I'll try to boil down the issue to it's essentials for you and if you'd like a more hands on and styalized (Nerd City are great) analysis and critique you can watch the video aswell as the others on the channel. If you have a 10 year old, then it's probably a good idea to learn about this stuff because chances are wether they watch people like Logan and Jake Paul or not, their friends might.
Basically his target audience is pre-teens and teens, kids who, he advertises his merch constantly and even tells the kids to nag their parents into buying it. This is an issue in itself, but on top of this he makes a lot of very... questionable content, such as sexualizing underaged people, making babies cry and exploiting kids in other ways. If you haven't noticed, the internet and social media is becoming a bigger and bigger part of human life with every generation and it's the next "raised by the TV" thing. Problem is there's a much stricter standard on TV and only so many channels, so it's easier for the parents to just know what they're letting their kids watch. You can argue that Logan Paul isn't really all that important, but then how is he making his money? Who is buying his merch? The problem of Logan Paul is more than just him being a shitty unimportant person, he's the worst example of a new postmodern culture.
Alright alright, it was stupid to even suggest that. It definitely isn't a choice, and I didn't claim that it was.
However, you can't blame me (or anyone) for suggesting that it may be a choice, where even a single person like Logan Paul (or anyone) can make an exception to that established rule, even if done just in spite to everyone else.
If you can understand where I'm getting at, respectfully so..
I wish people stopped ignoring this part of the issue. The Pauls advertise what is basically adult content to kids.
It's not like Marilyn Manson who might influence kids to be goth indirectly
The Pauls very explicitly target kids for money and fame with this content and even, as said here
Basically using sex, violence, and other cheap moves to exploit them. He faked his own death violently to get a reaction out of them, and manipulates them emotionally into getting their parents to buy his shitty shirts.
His songs are just straight up "buy that merch" and he says that you'll be a loser if you don't buy it.
It'll just be a straight man taking it up the ass for a month.
Rather cute that you assume Logan would go that far.
Why so many people are still choosing to follow this goof is beyond me.
