What did they expect? Charging 30$ for a TCG with microtransactions and no way to earn cards for free, when there are tons more FREE TCGs that are far better. Even for Valve it should have been easy to figure it out but I guess Gabe stopped caring.
Nevermind that, why would you want EA to get more powerful?
Steam Offline has always been notoriously shit and buggy.
Gabe has always been complicit with the bean counters running the show. He's absolutely not free of blame here.
Artifact is currently only sitting at 182 Twitch viewers during prime time hours. The game is looking dire, no pun intended. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/300433671486308352/536017027333357578/unknown.png

Hey, if EA owned Valve at least we'd get an actual support team for steam.
Does EA even have a support team?
Yes. And a pretty good one.
They do, and they respond fast and solve your problems almost immediately after. That's the support that being filthy rich allows EA to have, and should be allowing valve to have but they just don't care enough to invest on it.
Super weird that nobody is playing the game nobody wanted
So, has it been stated if Valve is going to double down on the game and 'support' it to make it at least earn some money, or is it looking like they'll probably abandon it in the year? I seem to recall something being said about them being in it for the long haul, but that seemed like a while ago, dunno if they changed their tune yet
They're probably going to stick to it for the long-haul, forcing the game to make money for them some how. I really wished the whole project would flop and be abandoned though, not for any particular dislike for Artifact but because I think game studios need to be burned more severely for making obviously unpopular choices like this. I honestly do hope Artifact never goes on to become one of Valve's known moneymakers. I just never thought I'd be saying this about Valve
It'll be supported like left4dead was supported. A few updates then life support when they're bored of it.
The 1 million dollar tournament is yet to happen. Valve might try to push the game around when that happens, but I feel it's going to be incredibly difficult. Can't imagine people wanting to watch.
They're gonna use the million dollars to pay people to watch it, of course.
The big Artifact tournament, we didn't have to worry about inviting any pro players we just found the last 10 people playing the game and invited them.
Not to necro the thread but for anybody still keeping score at home, Artifact has crashed to less than 1k players for the first time. 4chan stickied it's Artifact thread in celebration, while Reddit's Artifact moderators deleted the news before creating a mod controlled thread on the topic. I wonder how many interns Gabe Newell will eat Monday morning when he sees the news.
