If the updates are still anything like they were when I stilled played the game, they aren't big at all, you got like 40 minutes of new content a month.
That's still more than 'token support'.
It's a lot less than i'd expect for a standard MMO months subscription fee- especially considering the fact that priority seems to be given to cosmetics for the cartel market cash shop, and the F2P mode is a glorified demo where you can't even use all of your hotbars unless you buy them lol.
WoW doesn't even have "monthly story content", and you have to subscribe I can't think of another MMO that does, and I definitely don't know of another MMO that lets you keep all expacs permanently after one month of subscription
I can't really make out what you are trying to say here, are you saying I'm lying about them locking off elements of your UI if you go F2P? Because I'm not, that's a thing the game does- it makes it impossible to quickbar all of your abilities when playing certain classes at higher levels. I'm not even trying to say the Old Republic is a bad game, I always had a soft spot for it- I'm just saying that two lacklustre shooters, and some short story updates among a deluge of cash store content isn't exactly impressive considering EA has done sweet fuck all else with the Star Wars licence in the last few years.
EA responding to this article, neither confirming or denying that the game was cancelled

Give CCP a license for an open-world MMO after the EA deal expires. I'd buy every fucking version, every cosmetic, everything.
EA cancels fun
The Last Jedi basically has started putting the license into free fall, Solo bombed for a Star Wars movie, no one's really buying the toys or watching the cartoons, the merchandising is drying up, and EA can't make anything new with Star Wars worth a damn. People predicted the homogenization and blandness of what could occur under Disney, but they didn't expect Disney to be so fucking stupid that they turned an easy money printer into an oil rig on fire. You don't even have to try hard, for god's sake. All the planets, all the species, all these various things already existed and could easily be reformulated for something Star Wars fans would buy up. Instead they toss the "old" canon out the window to make way for their new plot lines and characters they've horribly half-assed, and are pulling a Marvel by doing absolutely nothing towards what the fans want. If your content's crap you can't attract new fans, and if you scorch the old fans then you have no one to peddle your shit onto!
I think the entirety of Star Wars could just use a bullet in the brain for now. I grew up with Star Wars being my one true love but there's just so much SHIT to sludge through since the new trilogy came out. Battlefront I, Battlefront II, neither of which were very similar to their namesakes. You've got two separate animated shows, Yoda turning up in adverts... it's time to stop
Runescape.

As much as I hate the Vuuzhan Vong, and ultimately, everything after Timothy Zahn's Hand of Thrawn Duology, a very loose adaptation of that whole plot would have been a much better basis for a new trilogy than a boring rehash of the OT. Or hell, if they wanted to keep X-wings vs Tie Fighters, they could have fucking done Thrawn like so many people wanted them to do. It couldn't have be a direct adaptation of the trilogy either, but it didn't have to be. You could have new leads and keep the OT gang in supporting roles without killing any of them off. The problem is Kathleen Kennedy appears to the anti-Kevin Feige, which sucks hard. Whereas Kevin Fegie is always going for the big ideas - "forget about a traditional follow-up to Winter Soldier, boys: were doing Civil War" - Kathleen Kennedy legitimately thought the Star Wars juggernaut could cruise on nostalgia alone for a decade or more. That has bit them in the ass HARD, and the brand may not be able to recover. If JJ Abram's IX is as safe and derivative as I expect it to be, a lot of us are fucking done with the franchise after it releases. And I don't think it's just nerds who are tired of this shit either.
