I run an rx580 and there is literally nothing I can't play at high at 1080p, which is where most people play. Even if Nvidia chopped their prices to half of AMD I still wouldn't buy it, I will never support their anti-consumerism and all the proprietary shit they do, like phys-x, their Ray tracing method, and of course g-sync. AMD always tries to make thier stuff somewhat open and consumer friendly.
To be fair, I believe that DXR (and most likely Vulkan's upcoming ray-tracing methods) could theoretically be easily supported by other GPU manufacturers, it's just that Nvidia is that only one that has released hardware with RT in mind.
1080ti stocks were the first to dry out in the shortage: https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/nvidia-gtx-1080-ti-stock-low/
I think he was arguing that people who want something equal or greater in power than the 1080 Ti/2080 don't have many options other than Nivdia.
yea, and that doesn't mean anything, you can still get them on ebay anyways. but every benchmark rates the 1080 ti as 15-20% faster than a vega 64. Even with only rtx cards in the mix, the 2070 is around 10% faster, 2080 is 15-20% faster, and the 2080 ti is 50-60% faster on benchmarks
