Tribute aside I never really understood the whole thing about the dog not being a 3d model, if it saves on creating a completely new model and lowers resource usage when the scene is being rendered while it looks passable then by all means go for it
Disappointed that I can't find the dogs name in the article.
Because it's from a moving scene and the dog is just an image, and once you notice it you can't un-see that it's just practically a cardboard cutout. It's hilarious.
I have no issue with it, it's just funny when noticed.

If it was a photorealistic game it might be different but look at the art style. The people don't have realistic proportions so a real dog looks out of place.
If you were a dog lover, you'd understand!!
