Honestly you're kinda financially dumb if you spend more than 20k on a vehicle for daily driving. It's an absolute waste of money on something that WILL eventually get wrecked by a deer, a bad driver, or what have you. It is not a good thing to invest in.
Yeah but not everyone should be buying a model 3 with credit.
This is kind of a weird line of thinking. If you've got the money for it, why not spend some extra for luxury and comfort over the most basic of Corolla or Camry or what have you and actually enjoy driving in your car because it fits your preferences? Insurance exists too, and even then it's not like literally every car ever gets wrecked - in fact, most will only see minor bumps in parking lots and the like, if even that. Yes, financially buying a car is dumb because they're costly to run and maintain and much of the value goes poof in little over a year. But a lot of things in life are kind of pointless luxuries if you think in terms of bare necessities. Sometimes it's just nice to have those luxuries.
Tesla’s are also sort of an enthusiast thing right now too. They’re definitely going to get much cheaper and much more advanced in the future, it’s just buying into it now for a more expensive price because you like the price. of course they’re expensive as fuck, 99% of the cost goes into R&D and the batteries. They’re still cool as fuck cars though even pointing out a lot of the flaws they have
I think that's absurd tbh, being so anal about interiors that you genuinely think they look "like shit" if they're not up to par with the competition. They look completely fine. Sure, others look better, sure Tesla could be doing better - but dismissing something as neutral as car interior as "shit" seems incredibly anal to me. They sure look better than any car my family has ever owned.
This I disagree with. You're financially dumb to spend more than 20k on a vehicle if you're not very well off financially. If you've got the money though, there's nothing wrong with it. It's just important that you don't by something well above what you can actually afford.
What, and you wouldn't care if a regular car alarm went off?
The nice thing about the Tesla's glass cockpit is that you can change the entire UI/UX with an OTA update. A Tesla can get better. I don't even think my dad's Ford can update from Sync 2 to Sync 3 without a hastle or buying a new car. Tesla adds entire features to their cars all the time. They've even improved how you control the AC in the Model 3. What Tesla can add to your car is virtually limitless unless it requires a hardware update.
Because that's what I did and then my car got fucked. Insurance never covers enough.
sick anecdote, maybe get real insurance instead of the General
I had good insurance. Luxury cars just lose value fairly quickly.
