• Valve's Artifact drops to below 1,000 players two months after release

Does that mean we can have an Artifact BR now?
A Battle Royale where the entire game's fanbase can fit inside one 99 player server, and still not populate the maximum allowed player count! The mind boggles.
Valve would honestly get more players if they released Ricochet 2: Battle Royale on Source 2. Especially because the community would figure out how to mod it and remake Counter-Strike (without skin transactions).
The sad thing is, even if some players ironically bought the game just for the meme value to artificially inflate the player count past Artifact's, it would still take hardly any time/money at all until Ricochet 2 beat out Artifact.
Dont worry guys valve is in it for the long haul and they will definetely fix all it's issues Artifact
I guess they had to make a new blog post after it literally being 100 days since the last anything for Artifact.
Man it's depressing that Artifact is getting all those love with a dedicated fan base of around 300 players. When TF2 is still in the top 5-10 most played games on steam and it's been a year and a half since a major update. Don't even get me started on how many years it has been waiting for a comic that was supposed to come out every two months.
...I am doubling down on my prediction.
Our plan was to immediately dive into our normal strategy of shipping a series of updates driven by the dialogue community members were having with each other and with us. What dialogue? Valve never talks to the community.
Little lies for people who aren't familiar with the valve community
The team behind CS:GO seem to communicate a lot. Even having frequent patches as well as having a Twitter account that responds and talking on reddit at times.
Just make a new Half-Life already and forget about Artifact
Begone, ghost page!
i'm sure the guy that literally reverse engineered half-life 1 due to valve's silence about it is familiar with valve yes.
I meant to the general audience that isn't familiar with Half-Life, I'm well familiar with Solokiller's reverse engineering of the goldsrc engine, his current ongoing work that he posts occasionally and how after asking valve during his initial reverse engineering process he was told to stop
Yeah the guy i talked to told me to remove the repository and tell him when it was done. I removed the repository but i never told him and he didn't ask about it so that shows you how much they care. The reason why he told me to remove it was because it was a complete reconstruction of the engine, that's a big no-no. SharpLife is mostly new code and the remainder is based on code that's either in the SDK or available in some form, like physics code that's in Quake and the Source SDK. Funny thing is i talked to the guy that maintained the engine several times and he never said anything about reverse engineering even though i was asking him about it directly. I guess they never told the legal guys not to answer questions about that, since the information used to reverse engineer it was intentionally put there by them. It doesn't seem to matter that much now since they're fixing exploits found through reverse engineering. That's what these recent updates are about.
I didnt notice that too much, but maybe i learned fast. Honestly my biggest beef with ns2 is in a late patch they added floating healthbars to everything and made the hit meshes significantly larger than the size of the actual aliens. Really wrecked the gameplay, especially the healthbars which made tracking the com of aliens much easier and eliminated all baiting and uncertainty.

Quick, everyone play Ricochet for the next 30 minutes We can make this happen
Dota Chess regularly has over 200,000 concurrent players. I really don't get why they made a fucking card game when they could have just made a full blown Dota Chess game, and sold shit tons.
and they bought the chess game from the maker aswell its just laughable
And now they are rebooting said card game from the ground up, and if VNN's sources are to believed, almost everyone who isn't working with VR is on the project. Because apparently this makes more sense than injecting new blood into TF2. In fact they apparently want TF2 to fucking die, for some reason.
Because the TF team is toxic
Leave the Janitor and Potted Plant alone. They are doing their best modeling metals ok?
And we're supposed to believe the words of a bunch of people who were willing to launch Artifact with three levels of monetization (and were planning a fourth with cosmetics). Frankly, I'm more likely to believe that Valve as a whole is toxic than the TF2 team in particular.
Revengeanomics, I don't know where you heard that. Valve has only been rumored into buying Autochess, I don't see anything concrete about it. As for whether they could, Autochess's devs have already partnered with Chinese publishers to make an independent mobile port, which is soaring through development as we speak. Depending on what happens with that (and knowing that eastern Asia is far more dedicated to mobile as a gaming platform), Valve may've lost their chance to buyout Autochess and make it official.
Eh, not really. NS2's big issue is that the game came out effectively as Early Access before Early Access was a thing and it was continually re-developed over and over until it lost a lot of people.

For the sake of comparison: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/266286/ffcee9ae-b860-4ac6-a313-82245c296ae9/dovs.PNG DoD:S' daily player count beat Artifact's for first time on February 18, they battled for a bit, but DoD:S has had more people playing it than Artifact every single day since March 2nd.
