Oh I had to pay in USD with no regional discount, awesome.
I appreciate them lowering the price, but with Epic Store's incompetence, fuck 'em.
Meme reviews pop up but outside comically bad games they largely don't hang around. And review bombing has it's place in showing a reaction to bad developer actions that people can see when they first look at the store page, hence why Steam started doing graphic histories of review trends.
Ah yes, very competitive.
See I'm tempted to do this except for after this fucking power play by Deep silver I'm worried that they'll just go "Just kidding! It's gonna be an Epic Store exclusive forever and Steam isn't getting any updates or anything!"
Then I'd be stuck with an inferior version of the game.
Yeah, that's the fuckin funny thing is apparently they're going to be selling the DLC still on Steam.

This obviously isn't going down well on their twitter.
Well. Who says no to free games?
There's something people really do not realize because nobody likes good news: Positive review bombs also exist when shits get fixed.
Devs who wants user-review gone and heavily moderated communities are those who have something to be afraid of. As much as I dislike irrationality of gamers, public opinion still matters.
Well I wasn't sure if I wanted to pre-order this game before, but this clear things up. Also Epic doesn't support our currency so that is already a no go.
Epic already took new Supergiant's game and now this. What is next, making Mortal Kombat 11 Epic store exclusive?
for me it's more of that I'm not going to give my money to a company that instead of providing a better service than steam just wants to use their money from fortnite to buy out all the new releases.
Real nice of Epic games to make "competition" by having games removed from steam and put it on a platform that doesn't accept my currency. It's like they want me to pirate the games.
I was intentionally holding off on looking at any media with this game because I wanted it to be a big surprise when I finally played it. Thanks for being big ol' scumbags, Epic.
Fucking flabbergasting that they're shipping Steam keys in the physical copies.
Valve doesn't get a cut from those keys, but they do have to spend the money to deliver the product to the consumers who buy it.
Valve would usually bear this cost because they're also making money from the sale of the game on the Steam store.
Here, however, you have a publisher hijacking Valve's distribution network and using them to distribute a game and paying Valve nothing.
Wonder how that will play out.
Well this is a giant 'to each his own' type thing.
But for me its about not wanting game-clients to turn into consoles where i need to actively invest time effort or money in each client, turning it into another console-war.
Please do whatever the fuck you want, but i'm not buying into this shit.
Because its shit to keep track of all your games, all your accounts and passwords, and everything along with them, instead of having them all neatly tied to one single account.
We're in an age where we have to make an account for fucking everything. That alone is a huge nuissance, let alone having to keep track of everything you own, and we end up doing this just because publishers are getting greedy as fuck and can't spare a bit of cash towards a better digital distribution platform.
Me. Even though I was interested in subnautica, getting on Epic was a no go for me.
Even if I didn't mind installing the Epic Store on my PC... I'm not giving my money to a company that bribes another to remove their product from a trusted, long-standing competitor at the last minute, or to the company that took that money.
they won't be forced and thinking they will is just crazy
I don't even know how you could possibly think that
or maybe people don't like setting up and verifying yet another account to yet again add payment details into, only to then never use it
it's even better for me, because I use controllers, and will have to open their game through epics launcher and through steam so I can use the BPM ui. I effectively have to launch on both platforms either way.
How the hell is that even an argument for this
Why would that make it any better. And having it all on the same channel wouldn't make it any better, singular channels only get to play a singular program at any given time.
the biggest issue I have with this personally is that if it impacts sales and thus profit, it could lead to the studio just not making another game. That's an extremely big issue. I'd rather they'd have a better store that I could fuck off to and use instead, but this isn't a good way to do so.
Well fuck you Epic I was looking forward to this but you can't strong-arm me into installing your shitty app.
Publisher != developer. Game looks kinda cool in my opinion, but I reserve judgement until I see more of it. Still, I already have Origin and Steam, so can't face another piece of annoying, redundant software.
If this is true, Epic's basically taking money out of Valve's pocket from physical copies, abusing the Steam platform for advertisement, then making off with the product Valve's work more for. Does Valve have legal grounds here? If so, i hope they give Epic a good beating.
Wouldn't this be a decision made by THQ, not 4A themselves? If so, that's really lowered my view of THQ, up until now they've had a great approach to their games/IPs...but this is pretty bad.
I really don't get this aversion to clients.
I don't like having a bunch of clients, but I also have to admit, they're small programs that don't launch until I ask them to, and don't take up any real room on my drives.
Does having a few shortcuts to a few launchers/clients really break their experience so harshly?
Another really fucking shitty move is that they used steam as basically a giant billboard to advertise the game, then pulled it at the last minute, fuck em.
Sorry, but "Valve takes large cuts which are not justified by the state of the platform" is simply bullshit.
All the console makers takes 30% and the have paid online and they offer a very limited amount of features on their service. Steam is also 30%, but has a TON of features like the all the community stuff (Forums, screenshots, videos, streaming, community guides, etc. ), the Workshop, all the social stuff ( Friends, groups, profiles, etc. ), the sales, network streaming, reviews, curators, Big Picture, regional pricing, and a large ETC. And, in personal experience, the download service work really nice.
Of all the "30%" of the industry (which I admit is a bit too big), Steam is the most justified of all. No saying that Steam is perfect, but Epic Store doesn't even deserve the 11% with the crappy service that they bring.
Like others have said here, it's just too much to juggle for a lot of people, myself included. On my computer right now i have Battlenet, Origin, Uplay, Steam, GoG, and Discord, not even mentioning various consoles. I don't really want to have to keep all those from launching when windows start, keep them updated, keep the games updated so i can even use them, not to mention balance premium memberships and other bullshit. I'm all for Steam having a quality competitor but this trend of every dev and publisher wanting their own launchers for their own games is just annoying and a trend i hope stops. You're welcome to think it isn't a big deal, but trying to get my slow ass dinosaur to close a game, open a different launcher, and launch that one game i have on there makes it a big deal for me
Go to Task Manager, go to "Startup" and change "Enabled" to "Disabled". It's super, super easy.
I'm not saying anything other than "This particular gripe doesn't make sense to me".
I don't really like Epic's store for a few reasons, but I'm also not super worried about having 10 launchers on my computer or having to keep track of that info, so that part of this whole deal, I don't really get.
Wow that sucks. I might download the epic store anyway because I was really looking forward to this game, but they apparently don't accept Paypal as a payment method which irks me. I just don't want to put my card info on a brand new platform that may or may not be secure.
And that's fine, i perfectly accept that it's not really the end of the world, but it's something i'd rather avoid. I'm a creature of convenience and organization, my desktop is clean and my folders folders have folders. I like everything to stay in one place where it's easy to get to and all these separate launcher and clients throw off my fung shui man
