After joining IS aged 15, German woman asks to go home

We sure are lucky to have someone that somehow knows and understands this girl as well as you do.
lol so its ok to incite terror and kill people because youre 15
Worth pointing out that she is only an "ISIS member" insofar as she was the third wife of an ISIS member.
this question applies to literally every crime
that's why the law chooses a specific birthday to mark the difference with
you either respect the law or you're worming around it to craft an argument that lets you have your cake and eat it too
I can sure fire tell you that when I was 15, I knew that the Taliban was bad.
I know people can be really stupid even at the age of 15, but if her family didn't try to stop/convince her from doing stupid shit like, then part of the blame could be put of the family. However, if they did, then the fault all lies on her being an unredeemable idiot who ignored her family's advices and went to a war zone to join a terrorist group.
And that's great, so did i. I was also smart enough to know that gangs and hate groups were bad, too, but that didn't mean other kids were.
What i'm trying to say is neither of us don't actually know what's going on with this girl, and it's not right to just make assumptions about something this serious, ya fool
Kids who join a terrorist organisation clearly showing off how they brutally murder people: “everyone makes mistakes at 15”
Kids with MAGA hats: “take away their voting rights RIGHT NOW, these people will never be anything but racists and bigots ever!”
I mean obviously I’m joking a bit here, but there seems to a bit of U-curve to the leniency spectrum here in general.
Personally I think if she’s actually reformed (and not just regretting joining ISIS because it wasn’t super fun), of course she should be given leniency - beyond whatever crimes she actually has committed, of course.
There are entire factions of IS dedicated to what is essentially grooming and brainwashing the most vulnerable people they can find.
People should be able to leave violent cults. We should be accepting of people who want to break free of an organisation that brainwashed them.
2019 and people still failing to understand how easy is to fall into a sect.
Rescue her, let her being able to tell her experience so others may can realize the imminent danger where they are.
I think the best way to treat this is to allow her to go back home and then deal with anything that needs to be dealt with there, mental health issues or whatever if there's anything.
I'm trying to think the best way to deal with shit like this isn't to act like this.
And it's instead to not be a cunt about it, at the very least, help her children out, but coming out with this stupid shit on the other hand, just stop it.
essentially what happened here is an underage girl was convinced to leave her home and have two children with a man almost twice her age - but because we hate the man more than most child groomers our disgust should fall on her too, like she's been soiled by proximity to him or some shit?
honestly this is completely the fuck out of order
You make the bed you are in. Considering her husband is probably an IED builder, I really have no sympathy for any of them.
So I'm taking this as a declaration that you have less than zero idea how grooming and manipulation works.
Thanks for clearing that up.
This just reminds me of this Finland dude I knew back in 2013 (Or at least I think he's Finnish) who just straight up joined Isis around 2016. Before that, the guy was a conspiracy theorist who thinks the illuminati/rockerfellers control the world and shit.
In any case, he's probably already rendered mincemeat by the coalition airstrikes long ago.
Are you deliberately being dense to fit some sort of stereotype of "Terrorism is the antithesis of Freedom!" or do you legitimately think this way?
I think you’re all forgetting the implications of being groomed by run of the mill paedophiles and ISIS are vastly different. Sure the methodology could be the same against the victims, but equating victims of statutory rape to victims of brainwashing who openly support and associate with terrorists which routinely commit war crimes and crimes against humanity is asinine.
Victims of ISIS propaganda help contribute to their genocidal ideology, which creates more victims.
To my knowledge, victims of paedophiles do not.
so? she can be vetted and if necessary arrested like anyone else, that doesn't mean we should sit here in full knowledge that she was statutorily raped and be like "haha owned what a dumbass"
It depends entirely on the environment in which you grew up in, what your place in the world is and how your view of it is as a result. Just cause its impossible for you to imagine yourself at 15y old and buying into the propaganda of ISIS doesn't mean it's the same for everyone or that there's any relevant objective difference in being misled by pedophiles, nazis or ISIS in any narrative.
You're right that being a victim of ISIS potentially has more widespread consequences than that of a pedophile but it doesn't make the "she should have known what she was getting herself into" argument any more applicable in this situation than in one where she was being mislead by a pedophile.
Hey I totally knew pedophiles were bad when I was a kid! Everyone knew that! Everyone still does! Really, you've got to be a TOTAL MORON to be a victim of pedophilia
White Knighting a terrorist isn't going to get you laid dude.
I'm not a terrorist sympathizer so I would never want to help them, unless it's helping them reach the afterlife.
guy who literally argues with "lol loser u won't get laid" feels entitled to demand sources for the widely accepted fact that your brain is not fully developed at 15
That's some edgy posting there Ronin, may wanna tone it down a little.

The rational part of a teen’s brain isn’t fully developed and won’t be until age 25 or so.
In fact, recent research has found that adult and teen brains work differently. Adults think with the prefrontal cortex, the brain’s rational part. This is the part of the brain that responds to situations with good judgment and an awareness of long-term consequences. Teens process information with the amygdala. This is the emotional part.
i'm gay but ok
Good god man, did you even read this before you typed it out? You sound like a 14 year old.
"They left the women alone, no food, they don't care about you," she says. The enemy was advancing "and you were sitting alone in an empty city with your kids"
Geez, if that was the tip-off that maybe these Jihadists weren't the best kind of people I don't even know what to say.
I'm all for repatriating in cases like this. If we can show leniency to young criminals at home surely we can do so in these cases, but man. If you're going to ask to come home maybe be a bit more rigorous about denouncing IS and apologetic about your own actions in this case. Obviously only so much can be gleamed from a short article, but the way this is presented it comes across that she was perfectly happy living under Jihadist rule until they started losing.
Dave Chapelle did a bit on this
15yo is old enough to decide whether or not you want to do certain things. Joining ISIS is one such decision, albeit you can be easily manipulated into joining it, it's ultimately your choice.
