There's just no competition with discord in terms of usability, features, active developpement/support, and userbase, and the inertia of moving to another app is immense, yea there's still tons of people who havent moved away from skype which has all of discords problems times a thousand.
Id rather strive for it to get better. hopefully discord staff understands the responsability they have as platform owners and grow up a bit.
Theyve shut down actual white nationalist, nazis and violent servers in the past, so they do care. Hopefully they'll have a more clear stance on loli content in the future, it's a really dumb hill to lose support on.
It took Skype getting plastered with ads before I finally convinced my friends to move to Mumble (Discord wasn't a thing back then), and we stayed on that for a couple of years until we started having server issues due to my server host and realized maybe having all our communication on one server (one point of failure) wasn't the best idea. Discord was super fucking new at the time, one of my friends recommended it, and we've been using it for the past couple years now as well. Took forever to get one of my friends to switch from Mumble though, and there was a whole other group of people I know who still never switched because it's not open source.
Of course, in retrospect, with Discord having a fair amount of issues last year of constantly having the whole service down, maybe switching away from Mumble due to that one feature was silly. However, Discord is way more convenient to use, and it's enabled me to find other people with similar interests in other communities, introducing me to some great new friends as well. As such, I feel more directly tied to it and would hope for it to improve, because having to drop it and find another platform would be a massive pain.
You technically can run something like this decentralised now (even with browser-version support, largely) and avoid the server costs.
If you use Tor as connection backend you'll even retain pseudonymity (and strengthen that of Tor at the same time), at least for text messages.
The main issue is that all this requires a lot of high-quality work up-front, which you aren't going to get unless you pay around a million maybe? Next to nobody has the time to do this kind of thing for free.
It would also be completely unregulated, since that would require much more constant investment. You can prevent harassment by making first contact work in a way that disincentivises this, but you can't prevent drug rings and the like from organising on such a platform.
Obviously it's time.
Time for the prophesied revival of XFIRE.

To be fair to Discord there, that's more of a failing on how the report feature works. I've seen it happen before when reporting loli porn where Discord wasn't able to do anything because we didn't have the message ID saved. It's a shit feature, but it's not inherently biased towards furry stuff in this case.
The video is still stored on their servers, it can be accessed by typing out the URL in the image.
Now that's blatant evidence there. I wonder how they'll respond if someone points it out and give the direct link.
discord with its recent class action waiver in the TOS makes me really not trust what they're doing with all my information, and honestly I hope noone forgot about their responses regarding the whole thing
I wouldn't be surprised if Sonic Inflation makes a come back.

AllTheFoxes is gone from the team as well
I'm still trying to accept the fact that Discord is addressing their "cub problem"
What fucking reality is this even
I thought the tweet was pretty professional, then I saw "cover all cub cases," and forgot where I was.
Just heavy breathing and panic.
The fact that they're only now addressing this "issue" after massive bitching, (read: when it actually causes bad PR) combined with their inaction towards actual CP according to the above post makes me somewhat uneasy. I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist and start screaming about how Discord is run by pedophiles who are mass-harvesting information illegally, but this just skeeves me the fuck out. Something ain't right here.
Well, going back to OP, the FBI are investigating Discord after all. We just have to see what comes out of that, I guess.
I feel it's more people who don't wanna turn costumers of their platform, regardless if they are doing something illegal or not, and avoid making controversy spill out into mainstream news by acknowledging it. I highly doubt it's because they are some secret, pedophile haven.
Well look how that turned out, fucking Forbes made a big article on it.
I bet Asparkles got your ass! I bet you've mentioned it like hundreds of ti-
