Russia to disconnect from the internet in a planned test

I'll note that original sources say "may disconnect" because it's not even decided that it'll take place at all, the project is supposed to be planned and tested before April 1st.
And original law actually was for the internal websites anyway. Not that it makes it any less stupid...
Time to say goodbye to all these STALKER mods then.
Iron Curtain 2: Copper Curtain
This is going to turn into a massive echo-chamber like /pol/ only this time the fucking Russian oligarchs and government are going have full control over it.
Once the bubble bursts, God knows what will happen - but it won't be good.
Just what we need, more disconnectivity in a time of global communications.
"Am I out of touch? No, it's the people who are wrong".
When you want a method of filtering your citizens' access to the global pool of information and primary exchange of ideas and knowledge, it may be a sign you're the one with the problem.
I need to get out as soon as fucking possible.
I wonder though, is this to increase the amount of internet censorship in Russia and deter resistance, or is it to stop Russian Army conscripts from instagramming their positions in the occupation zones of Ukraine, Georgia, and Syria?
The financial damages that will happen after the isolation will be immeasurable and people would revolt. I'd love to see our gov't shoot themselves in the foot like that.
While I'm almost certain no revolt would happen, you bet your ass the infrastructure will never be in place. All that money is going to be pocketed, just like with every other 'amazing' and 'groundbreaking' project our gov pushes.
