It is normal to talk about it, but this guy is going on about it all the fucking time.
It's annoying.
I'd call it out if a straight guy did it.
there's a difference between establishing it being normal for me and others to talk about it and making a point to insert it places it doesn't belong in the first place, something that'd upset me with someone of any sexuality
why is it annoying to you, who cares, its his identity. i always assume you're straight because straight is normal, but people assume he's straight because its normal. so he says hes gay. a lot, because people keep assuming that for him
Hey, if you just want to flat out discard what the other person states and replace it with what you want to respond to you don't really need to argue anything. Just say you won. Whoo. Debate over.
there is a difference between reminding people you're gay when they say something implying you're straight and saying shit like this

You probably assume people are straight because the majority of people are. It's not a matter of conditioning, it's to do with statistics. It would be better if we just didn't assume people's sexualities and concerned ourselves with our own lives.
I understand how normalcy works and i don't like what Sonicfox is normalizing.
Someone already mentioned this earlier in the thread, but having your personality revolving around being gay and being an annoying weirdo doesn't do the LGBT community any favors with public perception.
I get the need for having cultural icons for normalization, but what Sonicfox's normalizing isn't gay pride, it's a harmful stereotype.
Also don't forget that in media, even those who talk about eating ass and drinking puss all day all night with their friends, are total fucking assholes.
It's a trope, and the characters are annoying fucks.
People don't go high fiving them and saying "fuck yeah man me too!", no they just look at them weird and sometimes speak up, and those who do, are that assholes friend so chances of them being an asshole is up there too.
I ain't saying Fox is an asshole, I'm saying that even in media this type of talk is looked down upon by STRAIGHT PEOPLE.
how are we gonna get people to stop assuming people are straight if not to remind people that gay people exist and are common, very common

the whole thread
hi i am gay. hi i am gay. hi i am gay
^ three strikes youre out, this is a cunt
I disagree with the idea of what his last post is saying of reminding everyone constantly, I don't want this man representing me in the public eye on any level.
It's annoying because he keeps going on about it all the time.
How many times must I say it?
His whole personality is him being Gay and Furry.
It's pretty much all he talks about, I was fine when he came out on stage during TGA and said that he was Gay, Black and Furry, it was jarring sure cause I wasn't expecting it but hey he did it, I'm fine with it.
But he keeps going on and on about it like a broken record.
And yeah it's normal to assume people are straight because LGBT people are in the minority statistically.
Hence the term "minority"
Also for the record I ain't straight, I am bisexual.
It adds nothing to the conversation so I don't bring it up.
There have been two transgender women which have been murdered (one of which was horrifically brutal) within the past three years in my home town. Maybe that's not specifically homophobia but it should give you an idea for how dangerous some areas in the US are for LGBT people. I grew up genuinely scared of admitting, even to myself, that I'm bi because some people around here are fucking scary when it comes to dealing with gay people or anyone that doesn't fit neatly into their idea of normal.
We really need to normalize being LGBT, but the way SonicFox is doing it honestly just paints a weird picture for the rest of us and further entrenches homophobics. There are more intelligent, less obnoxious ways of going about it.
Gay people in the US don't exceed 10% (please check the validity of sources, I'll gladly be proven wrong). I don't see an issue with assuming people are straight, because the majority are. It's like assuming people from a certain area are more likely to have the accent associated with that area. Would it be better if we just got on with our lives? Yeah, probably, but we're human beings, not robots that you can program to focus solely on one thing. Assumption that the majority of people are straight isn't oppression of homosexuals. Someone in my uni flat is a gay male, and they simply corrected someone who asked them about their girlfriend (cos the flatmate used words like 'partner'). No awkwardness. Just a normal thing.
we probably shouldn't really assume such things about anyone tbh
"identify as"
you have to remember like 90% of gop are closet gays
i understand the argument loud and clear. the argument is: you don't like sexuality, and think he's doing it too much. i think thats fine insofar that i dont want sexual shit shoved down my throat all the time. however my argument is that straightness being the assumed default is emotionally harmful to ones' identity and guides discourse away from normal acceptance of gay people by making said assumption commonplace.
It's not harmful at all, nor is it a discourse.
Like Oaf and Owlz posted, 10% of the USA Population is Gay, it's normal to assume everyone is straight because the majority, the vast majority, the 90% is Straight.
And if people get their sexuality wrong, people correct them and move on, they don't get offended.
If they keep getting it wrong despite being told over and over, then yes it's a problem.
Shit like this is why I don't like identifying with mainstream LGBT tbh
Straightness is assumed the default because a vast majority of people are straight, trying to not make that the case im pretty sure would be a nigh-impossible task by its very nature.
Oh yeah I acknowledge that it's pretty shitty for some people in parts of America, though personally I believe it is much safer as being gay/bi (still not 100% perfect) than being trans since from what I've seen trans people get WAY more hate and abuse.
I admit that wasn't a very great argument from me either way
ok, i need to step back from this. fuck im sorry. im getting really hot in the head about this right now and i really shouldnt. sorry.
This is utter bullshit.
I fucking love sex and sexuality, I don't bring it up all the god damn time because outside very VERY specific instances, it's the wrong time.
I love myself some tits, some dick, hot semen pouring into my throat, while being fucked in the ass by a strapon woman with her breasts pressing up against my back.
But there is a time and a place for it.
Yes I am bi.
You scoffed at people that dared to contradict your experiences that straight people flaunt sexual experiences, you agreed with a moronic conspiracy that I'm a homophobic homosexual, you have twisted what people say, you have straight-up ignored what others have said, and your fingers couldn't be any deeper in your ears. You're very clearly not very committed to sensibly presenting your argument, otherwise you would have done it in a sensible manner. Step back.
Because being straight is the norm and always will be. Most of the planet always will be straight so why wouldn't they assume the much more likely scenario?
Also just because you aren't the norm doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you nor should you be treated differently. I accept I'm far from normal, but there's nothing wrong with that.
I have no clue what the fuck you're afraid of but histrionic evangelism applies to no one here. Ain't nobody here trying to denigrate or subjugate or end you or anybody else so maybe try not posting like a tween on instagram and dial it back to 11 or so.
I just really like how unashamedly cringy this lad is. Reading the article, I don't think he wants to be taken as some martyr, more of just someone who expresses his cringy personality with no social decency or filter. I have no clue why I find that so endearing.
