Denuvo 5.6 (used in Metro Exodus) got cracked in 5 days

It's extremely obvious that he wasn't talking about people who purchased the damn product.
The devs are likely paid before the fact, hourly, so not really
Maybe my principles state what I will support a game developer that actually does a good job at developing their games and doesn’t do anything that compromises their morals or principles either.
Witcher 3 I bought twice, once for me and once for my brother and I’ve nevee regretted it.
Any game that contains denuvo I’m probably going to torrent.
Maybe my principles (and those of many others) are showing game developers that we won’t put up with their shitty practices anymore? Plenty of games have already proven you DONT need DRM to prevent pirating and you instead just need to make a good game.
Die hard pirates who have no morals and will pirate a game even if it’s good are going to pirate the game anyway, so the DRM literally has no effect.
DRM is only affecting actual customers negatively.
and don’t even get me started on other slimey practices like loot boxes (especially in sp games)
It's not pirating if you already have a license for it, that's literally not what's being discussed here. We're talking about a brand new game.
What about the people that can't buy legitimately the game thanks to the Epic Store exclusivity? For example, some posts earlier SpaceHippie show us that he can't buy the game. I personally don't gonna feel bad if someone like him pirate the game.
remember that time we bought metro last light near launch for a penny
I don't see how the developer not offering you something in the way you want it means you're entitled to it for free.
entitled seems like an odd word to throw around this often when nothing's being demanded or taken
won't likely matter, these cracks usually work by emulating the checks so like with IJ2, nothing will change
If you're trying to say you're in the moral right to be doing this thing you're doing then you need to show how you're entitled to be doing it, yes.
Man I swear we have the same argument eveytime one of these crack notifications is posted.
I feel sorry for the developers, but pirating this game after the shit that Epic Games and DeepSilver pull off, giving the customers the middle finger, is very innocent in comparison. Yeah, it doesn't mean that you deserve the game for free, but I don't give a shit if DeepSilver feels bad if people pirate it. Call them "entitled" if you want, but a least they don't steal every cent of your pocket like these companies. Fuck them.
Literally all that was said was that you need to acknowledge that it's a bit shit of you.
Given that you did that, we don't actually disagree.
Haha no, I don't think that pirating this game is "a bit shitty", even if you buy the game the developers are already fucked, so no, no giving DeepSilver or Epic Games is in any way "shitty".
who gives a shit about this morality non-issue? the devs are already paid, "not playing" would have the exact same effect as pirating it, and on top of that they're assholes anyhow. You wanna get into an ethics debate about buying from Amazon and Wal-mart, cause I guarantee you more people are getting hurt/fucked in that process than some kid copying a game.
Your greatest anti piracy tool will always be offering a greater than or equal to service than piracy.
Being actually unable to use the checkout through your exclusive platform is quite the exact opposite.
Pirates aren't part of the "consumer" group that "anti-consumer" refers to.
yeah, because they repelled them from being consumers by being anti-consumer
I agree, nothing is consumed when you copy a game so pirates aren't consumers
they're 90% human and 10% wood
People have done this with both cracked versions of Denuvo games (which technically still do have Denuvo, just bypassed), and with games that had Denuvo in one build but removed it in a later build (DOOM 2016 is a good example).
The results? Denuvo practically has no impact on performance.
I'll be frank here. I'd prefer no DRM in general for all of my games, but all things considered, I'd say Denuvo (depending on its implementation) is generally one of the least intrusive methods of DRM there is. Doesn't affect performance, and again, depending on the implementation, usually doesn't bar you from playing the game if you're offline. It also doesn't require having an application/launcher running in the background (like Uplay).
I think there are worse, more intrusive methods of DRM out there, but Denuvo gets all the hate because it takes longer for scene groups to crack the games usually, and pirates complain very loudly when they have to wait for those games to be cracked.

They just added it before the launch of Metro Exodus.
I get people have a massive hate boner for the store, but you gotta stay up to date on things.
They can't complain about piracy happening because their actions would have lead to it, but that doesn't make it morally justified. If you aren't paying the people that made it, and you want to mantain the moral high ground, don't play it. If you pirate it, you have lost the moral high ground.
You can easily protest this by simply not playing it. I'm not sure what you mean by "Interfering philanthropist" in this case but this is pretty cut and dry; it's immoral to benefit from a good without paying the person that produced it for it. I'm not saying I've never pirated, I'm not saying it's as bad as stealing, but it's objectively morally negative since you're benefitting from their labor for free when it isn't free.
That's very interesting considering the amount of people screeching about denuvo and one of the primary reasons upon asking is M-MUH PERFORMANCE, citing one post by a dude who totally definitely analyzed odyssey and is absolutely for sure telling the whole truth.
Unless the game bombs in which case the devs can easily be laid off, 4A can be downscaled, or flat out shut down.
Not saying it'll be the case here, but just because you're paid by the hour doesn't' mean that it will be 100% guarantee you'll be able to go into work the next day.
Game is apparently selling way more then LL, so things are good.
how can this be possible
Was this like a bug, I was not aware of this?
I recall it being a big deal on this forum when it happened, Best Buy had one of those "free with purchase" Metro Last Light promos with a graphics card or something but it was showing up as $0.01 on the store
Lot of us had copies at that cost before anything was done
The big irony is that the crack CPY came up with uses Steam files.
I've heard there's a possibility it came out on Steam exclusively to people with outstanding preorders
I don't know if Odyssey uses the same multiple forms of DRM as Origins did (Uplay, Denuvo, VMProtect), but if it does, the DRM that was shown to be causing actual issues in terms of performance for Origins was VMProtect, not Denuvo. VMProtect was stupidly CPU intensive (probably due to the VM part of its name), and I think I recall eventual cracked copies of the game having much better performance.
That, and also Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed games haven't been that well optimized recently from what I've heard either. I've heard Odyssey was a bit better in that regard, but it also has settings that basically no modern CPU/GPU combo could run at a decent framerate.
