I still don't get why it was banned, you get banned if you post such content in 8chan.
Speaking of RWS;

if you're having trouble understanding why a place that heavily encourages VPN use and maximum anonimyity got in trouble for illegal porn and was blacklisted from google, and think bans actually work as a deterrent in that sort of environment, then we can't help you.
Heavily encouraging VPN use and maximum anonimity is not a bad thing, however banning does happen in 8ch, just like it happens in 4chan and reddit, so I don't see the reasoning behind such a ban (unless 8chan moderation wasn't actually banning people in the past, but afaik they did).
NeoGAF offline after owner accused of sexual misconduct • Euroga..
Do you know why ResetERA even exist?
The sad thing is going on pedochan isn't even remotely the biggest mistake THQ has made.
I haven't heard about resetera myself? But neogaf? I thought everyone heard about Amirox. Yeah, he was an ex-mod that was permabanned, then unbanned, and then got permabanned again when a neogafer found out that he had been arrested for CP possession. I made a fucking thread about that here the day the story broke. Also, he had previously made a gofundme for a family member. Evilore found out that he had actually spent all the money on drugs, and then proceeded to cover for him and hide the truth from the entire forum for years.
I didn't say it was a bad thing. Please re-read my post.
The concept is that since they heavily encourage anonymity, bans are meaningless since the tools to evade them are as a result already being encouraged for use by the 8chan community itself.
Not only do they know, they were in the damn thread themselves.
A bunch of us got to test Paradise Lost during it's development, it was a trip
I was asking about the child molestation and pedophilia claims. To me there is a big difference between that and sexual assault allegations, call me crazy.

This guy is an ex-mod of NeoGAF, google "Amir0x" if you need more info
I don't think THQNordic deserves to be chastized for doing an AMA on 8chan. I hope the marketing guy behind this doesn't get fired because I don't think he did anything morally wrong and if anything this was a successful PR stunt that's got people talking about the company.
THQNordic is trying to reach niche audiences because that's who their games are aimed towards, and 8chan has a good amount of niche gamers there.
I think 4chan would have been a safer bet though, as 8chan has had a lot of shit associated with it due to its "anything goes except illegal stuff" rules leading to questionable boards being made. Then again Reddit's had terrible shit subreddits, some that are still around, but somehow gets a pass.
The only good place to do an AMA is Facepunch
are we just going to forget that Reddit has a large history of generally being an awful place? suggesting it as a legitimate alternative as if it's more pure or whatever is honestly laughable.
Did you come up with the phrase "glass churches versus big ass rocks"? Because that seriously has became my new favorite phrase, thank you.
It's a known fact that the higher you double your channel, the more depraved it is. 2chan was just a normal Japanese message board with a predilection for otaku culture. Then we had 4chan, somehow the cultural center of the so-called "real internet" (whatever that means) here in the Western world, even if nowadays it largely consists of whiny gamers, unfunny memes, and an ever-increasing amount of unironic white supremacy. And then we have 8chan, born out of the belief that 4chan was becoming too much of a "safe space for cucks" and which has a reputation for actual illegal stuff happening on it with unnerving regularity.
It's said that there is even a 16chan, hidden deep within the dark web.
Should you manage to elicit its address and visit it, what awaits you is no imageboard, but a constant live cam of a naked, morbidly obese man covered in Dorito dust, curled up on top of a damp Chibiusa dakimakura in a dark, empty storage closet containing nothing else but a ratty MAGA hat drenched in szechuan sauce in the far corner. His face, painted stark white with the word "WOJAKKK!!" scribbled on his forehead in dried blood (his own? He isn't saying). Day and night, he sits hunched there, never sleeping or eating. Breathing heavily, he sometimes whispers rage comic punchlines and old YTMND fads to himself as he weeps, sometimes snort-laughing as he verbatim recites the transcript of a pedophilic snuff video, and sometimes he merely shrieks. For hours, shrieking. Why does he shriek? The perpetual, unnatural thoughts in his head, moldy and festering. What thoughts are they that fester? Only the mold knows.
Faintly, you can hear an elderly mother calling out for her son (you can hear the years-long regret and resignation in her voice) to come eat his mac-and-cheese before it gets cold. It is the son's 36th birthday today. The man on camera, is he the son?
Only the mold knows.
The only reason 8chan has a big problem with illegal shit is cause the creators thought it was a great idea to let users make their own board and assign their own moderators to them. You get the reddit effect where you get creepy as fuck sub-reddits that stay around for way to long until the admins do something but worse since 8chan doesn't have the money nor manpower to take down everything efficiently..
Also you know, the fact that the entire community and social structure revolves around anonymity, VPNs are heavily encouraged, and therefore there's no way you can actually be punished for something because the tools to ban evade are insanely easy to find and use? And since if they cracked down on known VPNs/proxies, they'd have users throwing a hissy fit over "privacy".
Like, that other guy up there didn't get it but maybe you will, forced anonymity with encouragement of using tools to further hide who you are just doesn't work with the traditional concept of a ban.
Yknow I actually like 8chan but I have to scratch my head about this. Not because "8chan is home to all those evil gamergaters people" (a hashtag bowel-movement that's very dead now) or because "8chan is home to all those white supremacists" (idgaf, and I'd like to think that 8chan's /v/ which is ran by it's own moderation team bans rampant /pol/ crap) but because 8chan is dying and it has been for some time.
Yeah, so after the insulin shot of users flooding in from 4chan to bitch about that-which-must-not-be-named (but has been in this post!) Hotwheels (then-lead developer of 8chan, retired) hired this guy called Joshua Moon (you may know him as that dip who runs kiwifarms) to code for the place. He then proceeded to take a dump on the site with his poor code which slowed the site down to a crawl and it has never been the same since.
I get that THQ want to be gimmicky but why they decided to host the QA on a place often vilified as "4chan but even worse!" really is beyond me. My only guess (and this just occurred to me during writing) is that maybe they are 'chan people and wanted it to be on 4chan but the 4chan admin team would not give them a special treatment of a stickied thread with custom tripcodes? Actually that's probably the reason now that I think about it...
How are they relevant? I've literally never heard of ResetEra before this.
There was also /hebe/, which wasn't necessarily created for CP but was absolutely trying to skirt the edges of what was legal and harbored a concerning number of pedophiles in 8chan's heyday.
A woman in the replies claims 8chan users posted her address and threatened to rape and kill her in 2014. Is doxxing something that goes on in 8chan?
yes
yes and that's also the case for GAF and resetERA, where they target people, gather evidences so they can be fired
and that's the point of the whole mess - both sides have dirt behind their ears.
Read more gaming news. You'd be surprised how many times Resetera is named as a supposedly credible source. The most recent example is the incredibly stupid outrage about a user spreading factually incorrect (!) info on a new ending of Catherine: Full Body, accusing Catherine's developers of transphobia.
Ah that came from there? I thought it was just general shitty game journalism.
Where are the complaints when celebrities/prolific people host AMA's on Reddit every day? Reddit has some undesirable sections too.
