yeah phones aren't exactly made to interface games to begin with, but you do use them for everything else, and play games. I'm just not imagining many non-enthusiasts willing to toss down $200 on a portable gaming console that can be used to buy a better phone. They are already struggling to find reasons to own a PC.
Actually phone sales have been decreasing for a year or two in a row now. Once phones hit the point where increases in performance and hardware stop being noticeable to average user (and their producents run out of gimmicks like foldable etc.), people will likely stop switching their phones every two years or so. Maybe this will give them more money to spend on other things, who knows.
If anything, that might be a good time for TheFlow to release the 3.70 CFW.
He's releasing it later this year. It's entirely possible that Sony will decide to update the Vita firmware after EoL. They did for the PSP after all, a couple years ago.
I think this sold pretty poorly so I don't think companies are willing to take the same risk again.
