Minecraft creator Notch endorses the Qanon conspiracy

I love how people legitimately buy into Q despite there being absolutely nothing verifiable about it. Such a fucking sinister mindgame. I'm a paranoid conspiracy theorist and Q is exactly the kind of shit I would distrust instinctively.
Either Q was some bollocks conspiracy made up by someone as a joke then later taken on by some kind of Terry Davis type with a dissociative identity and a hell of a lot of paranoia, or it's a straight up disinfo job designed to distract and act like a sociopolitical chaff grenade. Either way I wouldn't even begin to entertain any of it because none of it is verifiable and Q "themselves" is so obfuscated and anonymous I would never trust them because it might not even be them.
It's some MGS2 level mindgame shit and I hate it, because it preys on people who, legitimately, are either mentally vulnerable or have fuck-all going on, and it makes them feel like part of this great anti-conspiracy resistance when in reality all they're believing in is hot air. That, in it self, may rob them of the will to actually fight for what they believe in (whether I agree with it or not) which I think is truly criminal. Disarmament of the self is one of the greatest atrocities brought on by the 24/7 news culture and disinformation, and Q to me seems like the latest in a long line of disarmament jobs.
There's strong circumstantial evidence that Q was originally a trolling joke that alt-right retards began believing, followed by Qanon breaking out and infesting a giant reserve of alt-right boomers, and whoever is/are behind Q either handed over/lost control of the Q account or decided to go all-in themselves. It's a LARP with merch and a devoted fanbase.
The real problem is, Q doesn't even matter anymore, Qanon has spawned a cult that has become self-determining. They are reading random signals from the environment and interpreting them as clues to the grand conspiracy. They're on a short boat to pathological self-delusion and disassociation from the reality the rest of us agree to live in with empirically-proven facts. If Q stopped posting today they'd keep going and there is no predicting where they are going to go and what they're going to do on the way.
Boomers who trusted the media as it fed them propaganda have finally woken up to the fact that things aren't adding up and the system is rigged against them -- but they're engaging in mass hysteria in response, which can only make things worse. They're three steps short of becoming a cult of brownshirts ready to act on the enigmatic "orders" of what is essentially a Markov chain generator with the entire historical transcript of Alex Jones and Art Bell recordings as the source text.
by modern standards, no you're not
You gotta be para to live nowadays. Don't believe the church and state, and everything they tell you. Believe in me, I'm with the high command.
That's not paranoia, that's reasoning and deductive logic.
Paranoia would be if you refused to believe anything.
I know you're being jokey jokey and all that but being paranoid is thinking everone is literally out to get you. The irony is that in actually it's more likely than not that nobody gives a shit about them.
You fuckers are laughing, but read the fucking comments on that shit.
Our society, our species, we're fucked. We don't have a chance.
There's no way we can overcome climate change, xenophobia, endstate capitalism, the insect collapse, the oceanic collapse, AND humanities desire to be ignorant, stupid, and afraid.
Look at these fucking people, and recognize this is a "Normal" state of being in the modern world, and try and reconcile the issues we're about to see, with the fact that demonstrable falsehoods are being spread as verbatim truths because our society has utterly given up on trying to correct "Misinformation" because it's profitable to leave it where it is.
We're fucked. I wish I had an ounce of humour to offer about this, but genuinely, seeing how wide spread, and dedicated these people are to outright fucking delusions that you can dispel in 10 minutes is more of a threat to our futures, than any of the aforementioned issues. Good luck corralling our species. We're basically asking for a mass die off.
Eh. There isn't nearly enough of them and it's not bad enough. I honestly expected much worse.
People never had any clue about anything. It only ever seemed otherwise, because our inherent dumbness was masked by our social hierarchy and the flow of information associated with it. Every since the beginning of open media, people have been waking up to the fact that most of us are kinda stupid. Its okay, we just need to accept it.
What's really fucked is that a lot of the extreme xenophobia/tribalism/etc is happening prior to when the Climate Change induced catastrophes such as climate refugee migrations, food shortages, etc happens.
Like, at least I'd understand this happening during the worst of it. But, the worst of it has yet to even come, considering we're at a privileged point where things still "feel" normal enough to dismiss insect extinctions/abnormal weather/etc as "fake news".
It was not, but in her case the Nazism started after started after Tequila suffered a drug related brain aneurysm.
Notch is a sad loser that spends all his days on Twitter chatting shit. Be proud that every single one of you on this forum are having more productive days than a man worth billlions of dollars.
I wouldn't say all of us
I'd glad he doesn't work on the game anymore.
I'd say as long as you're not shitting all your brain cells out like Notch is doing then you're probably being more productive than him, even if you're doing basically nothing at all.
We're probably collectively happier.
Doesn't matter anyway, he's a one-hit wonder who got lucky with mc, he'dl never see anything remotely as popular as mc.
Also he's a self confessed brony.
I have been clinically diagnosed with paranoid and anxiety-based delusions so I'm not entirely joking, I am just also aware (and in recovery from) of my delusions and make them (like my past traumas) into somewhat a joke because it's easier to live with when you laugh at it.
Doesn't apply for everyone, and I'm not always in the mood to joke at it, but quoting lyrics from Mike + the Mechanics' most bollocks crazy song in a totally serious context makes my mad little self giggle a bit.
All politics aside you have to be a pretty colossal turd of a human to have the following of countless pre-teen gamers and to be spamming this vitriol hate shit. It'd be like Mr Roger's donning a kkk mask at the end of each show.
...plus, as someone else said earlier in the thread - wasn't this dude also insulting people with Autism when several Minecraft fans actually are autistic?
more like several thousand given the 91 million player estimate
I'm not surprised he's gone off the deep end, it tends to happen when you so quickly manage to alienate everyone in your life
Notch is the perfect example of someone who didn't know how to handle success
Reading up on it and seeing shit like this makes me believe Qanon is just some seriously next level trolling. Throw together some bizarre shit about the DNC running a Satanic pedophile ring, Trump secretly orchestrating a counter coup against Obama's equally secret regular coup, throw in some half-assed evidence and basic conspiracy theory logic and just sit back and see how much of the far right are willing to publicly out themselves as bat shit insane.
tbh you gotta be completely off your rocker to decide to make a game in java anyway
Damn, he seemed to have a fairly level head a few years ago, maybe a bit contrarian. He seemed to be about where John Bain was on politics, not particularly right-wing, but not taking bullshit from overly politically correct types either. Qanon though? That's going off the deep end big time.
I think it is unfair to suggest that he is anything but smart. Minecraft, even at the beginning, is not something an average person could have developed.
He is pretty stupid on the politics shit though.
Question: Isn't Q legit just something a/some 4channer(s) made to mess with boomers and then people actually believed it?
It's a very plausible theory, but it doesn't matter if Q was originally ironic or not
The damage is already done either way
Anyone with sense would have picked another language than Java to code it in.
Ask the java developers who took the game over from him, it was a janky mess of shit code that was so poorly optimised.
The only thing smart about Notch was that he cashed in and got out when he did, learning to program is easy tbh, I've never met someone who couldn't code if you spent the time to teach them.
nothing can ever possibly be ironic on 4chan
no matter how ridiculous or sarcastic your opinion, there are always boatloads of people who will genuinely agree with you
Never said he was a genius, just smart. Smart, in my opinion, means 125IQ or higher. I don't think 50% of the population could do what he did, that's all.
