Steam game about raping women will test Valve’s hands-off approach

somebodys twisted fantasy about abusing women and raping them is not art
i don't understand how anybody can even defend this garbage
Video games are art
No >:(
Only kill
rape in a zombie apocalypse
what, is that to catter to zombie fans?
Let's be honest here, even if the game catters to your fetish, it looks awful. The author was probably made it with that name to gain some free publicity or simply to make people angry knowing how people gonna react to it. And if that was his intention, he won already.
I know about what person he was, and still is, but that's not was I was getting at. The game suffers severely from feature creep and is really poorly optimized and coded. After all these years, he's hardly done any work on the base game, unless you count adding a bunch of pointless easter eggs and npcs to an alpha build as progress. Disregarding the subject matter, if rape game simply runs smoothly, has solid gameplay, and is completed and released, it's automatically a better product than Yansim.
But yeah, the dev's personality heavily contributes to why it hasn't made progress or improved in the slightest. Gotta stretch out that development time for patreon bucks.
It's a good thing we now have the opinion of a connoisseur
I hold the same point of view, but look at the screenshots of this garbage though. It's not even trying to be remotely aritstic, the writing is the lowest of lowest tiers.
Looking at the title I just knew the guy was going in full knowledge that his game will get blasted to bits by decent people but suckered in to rake in the controversy profits. No sense in giving him attention knowing its probably a shit game anyway.
Looked up the video and turned up nothing. Maybe he delete the video?
I've played worse games on newgrounds back in the day
Yansim's quality is complete garbo, but the idea is super solid imo. Most people just like to get up in arms about it mainly for the subject matter, and not the fact it's shoddily made.

I mean... I am not the taste police but...
Yes but that's different, I don't know where the models in this game came from, but what I mean is that yandere simulator is a shitty game because development wasn't done well, this game is shitty from the get go.
Debating the defintion of art is an even bigger clusterfuck than debating about this game.
Although I'd like to say that people really have an issue with romantification of art, I would say something being art doesn't mean is a good thing.
Is this game art? I'd say so
Is this game a piece of shit? I'd say so too
oh cool where's your license for determining what is and isn't art
you have one right???
you're not just massively over-inflating the importance of your >>opinion<<?

Still there for me, just not gonna embed it because even the thumbnail is creepy
While the game is in poor taste, art is entirely subjective. There is more crazy shit put up in art galleries.
~WOW~
We are in 2019 here, less commonly called "The Era of Sensitivity", and that guy goes ahead and pushes this title forward.
I applaud only the braveness he had actually comitting and pushing forward with this idea.
I also wish him the fastest of winds because once Tumblr gets fired up about this ; that guy may start picking the colors for his casket padding.
As for Steam this will be their trial by fire, prooving just how far you can stretch the Curator Bots before someone actually picks up the phone and says NO.
Would I play it? No.
Would I pay to have it show up as a gift for someone I know? Hell yes. Most gifted game of 2019.
I didn't see this post before, but I do feel like games that aren't about popular subjects or are controversial are treated like second-class citizens, and I don't think I like it a lot.
Anyone remembers Hatred and how people lost their shit over it?
The next Bad Rats
You're missing the parallel. It's not the game itself, it's the fact that any crazy horrible idiot can be a game developer and make a game.
They're doing this deliberately like Postal/Hatred. The name being one letter off from RapeLay confirms this in my eyes.
Ohhh nooo not a game centered about rape! Steam DEFINITELY doesn't already have those!
(And yes, at least one of these (Meltys' Quest) is sold uncensored on steam).
Rape Day will not ship on Steam:
Steam Blog
Over the past week you may have heard about a game called 'Rape Day' coming soon to Steam. Today we've decided not to distribute this game on Steam. Given our previous communication around Who Gets To Be On The Steam Store?, we think this decision warrants further explanation.
Much of our policy around what we distribute is, and must be, reactionary—we simply have to wait and see what comes to us via Steam Direct. We then have to make a judgement call about any risk it puts to Valve, our developer partners, or our customers. After significant fact-finding and discussion, we think 'Rape Day' poses unknown costs and risks and therefore won't be on Steam.
We respect developers’ desire to express themselves, and the purpose of Steam is to help developers find an audience, but this developer has chosen content matter and a way of representing it that makes it very difficult for us to help them do that.
lame
so much for hands-off
Watch as it gets released on the Epic Game Store
Brings into question what the point of the hands-off part of Steam is if the only form of quality control comes from people complaining enough until Steam takes a look at it and decides to remove it. Either that or they need to actually implement rules (aside from "no trolling lol") to combat people from putting up random bullshit.
