Birmingham school stops LGBT lessons after parents protest

dunno i think teaching people to how practice safe sex (though this is the least ideal way) is a very important thing too
Of course it's important, but putting a condom on properly was the only thing I was taught in sex education back in school. Nothing about puberty, sexuality, relationships or anything else. I learnt it all the hard way, personally :V
What evidence is there that their views are getting worse? And that they’d want LGBT people to receive the death sentence? You can’t just say this without backing it up imo. I can’t speak for Britain but in my country their views are becoming more western and moderate each generation, generally.
Britain isn’t returning to the dark ages due to immigration, dude. Muslims make up 4.4% of the population. Don’t be ridiculous. And also, it’s not like homophobia, transphobia, etc. are non-existant among native Britons.
No need to use LGBT people as a stick to beat muslims with.
It's a topic I've spoken fairly extensively about over the past year and provided all sorts of sources for. I'm trying my hardest not to generalize, but there are large cultural divides that are going to take a long fucking time to bridge. I'm not saying there is no moderation going on, but in communities that are above 50% muslim such as these ones, echo chambers are formed and progress is slow.
One of my biggest issues that makes me passionate about this subject is open Islamist sentiments being shared and evolution taking a backburner in schools, although it's being taught as dictated by British law, it's taught only because it has to, with a pretense from teachers that it's bullshit.
As for the LGBT community and the death sentence thing, you can look up any video of open public debate and when quizzed about Sharia and homosexuality, you will be hard pressed to find anyone that goes against the texts, and the texts are very clear.
I do appreciate your skepticism though, the reality of the situation is unfortunately quite dark.
While it might not be getting worse (at least I haven’t seen much to suggest that), and you can hardly call it a return to dark age mentality, pointing out that Muslims generally have bigoted views on LGBT issues is hardly “beating them with a stick”.
Half of all British Muslims think homosexuality should be illega..
Obviously this doesn’t back up resonant’s claim, but 52% saying it should be illegal is still pretty significant.
This forum wouldn’t balk at someone calling republicans bigoted (not that I would disagree that a significant part are), even though I’m pretty sure their views are actually quite a bit more moderate on LGBT issues. The Muslim community needs to change in the way it views LGBT.
I can't remember where I read it, but regarding this situation someone commented:
You need to teach your children about how the world is, not just about how you want it to be.
