I think you're jumping the gun a bit there, dawg. Any businessperson worth their dollar knows that the "no publicity is bad publicity" mentality is absolute bullshit, especially when it comes to social media. I sincerely doubt they'll be getting any more customers with the idea that their mascot attracts pedophiles
Ah, yeah. I get yeah. Didn't see those other tweets. Still, I think they might be more jokes than anything.
they only stated that because of a person, like you, who for some reason thinks that (even when theyre informed what the style is) the chibi art style is some sorta evil lolicon scheme when its just an art style. they even defined what chibi is for those that dont know what it is.
we can even go with one of the most extreme examples, with a show that had a main character pretty much constantly be in a chibi style, and yet theyre 16 years old:

and as others have said, waifu can be interchangeably used to just mean an anime girl, which is pretty much what they were logically going for here.
Idunno, you're the one shifting the goal posts from "Arby's made a mascot to appeal to lolicons and are retweeting sexual images" to "here's a guy on twitter that drew sexualised art of their mascot". I agree the image you posted is sexualised, but it's totally irrelevant to your original argument.
i think you need to take a step back and breathe man
The hashtag is the sexual implication you wet paper towel.
oh god it's a loli
ABORT ABORT
Its not loli, chibi, not sexual.
Waifu nowadays is used to either refer to your favourite girl from an anime or just girls that exist in an anime.
It's not a term that is used the way it was 5 years ago. Ocelot from MGS5 is my MGS5 waifu for example. We're within the territory of what is called dank memes.
guys its just a cartoon
fucking chill not everything is a loli
Courage to jump into a thread with 1 agenda when 98% of the people talking about it are thinking of something utterly different.
Rather than jump to conclusions maybe take a step way back and think out of the box maybe?
When I saw this I saw how adorable and well drawn it was and hoped there would be a lot more themed like this(and indeed there is!).
You need to get your head out of the gutter mate.
This sentiment gets shared around a lot lately when someone creates a cute, stylized character and I don't get why people always defaults to "it's a child". The more you stylize something the less human it looks which means it gets harder to judge how old a character is supposed to be, especially if you stylize something to look cute since childlike features are usually considered cute. It's simply just drawing something very stylized.
Far off in the distance, the sound of an explosion echoed throughout the land. A lone farmer briefly looked up from tilling the fields to scan the horizon for the source of the sound. Upon finding it originating from the direction he had heard it echoing from time and time again, he simply sighed, wiped the sweat from his brow and continued his work.
"Someone musta mentioned lolis on Facepunch again," he muttered under his breath.
Why the fuck are people equating chibis to lolis these days. I don't see people calling for bans on Funko pop because "they looks like kids" and why are people having problems with these?
She is cute
CUTE
Hey, I try to be contrarian as I see value in observing things from the other side in order to see things in from both sides but even then, thats ridiculous in this situation. You're way too emotionally involved in this, chill out. It happens to the best of us, but you need to stop. You're not furthering your arguments by getting upset with people. You're admitting you're angry, that means you need to take a step back and re-access.
Im not too impressed with the pandering in advertisement myself, but in all honesty this is to be expected from a fast food chain. I mean the whole waifu spiel is a bit odd, but I don't think there is any ill intent behind it.
I feel that some people has a moral crusade against anything anime/cartoon related these days that try to start a fight on any news about a stupid drawing. If you hate it, ignore it, stop trying to make people that like it your enemies.
No because it's not done out of relation, but a desire to make us think they're trying to genuinely relate, and just want our own money, rather than anything that applies to our interests. It was cute for a hot second but then you realize it's some horrible late-stage capitalism which is just rallying a bunch of people to say "come on, they're not that bad, they post memes!"
I expected something much worse based on the noise in twitter
but his looks pretty wholesome
I'm more weirded out by the fact that these corporations are doing this solely for the ulterior motive of advertising and selling their brand, nothing more, nothing less. It doesn't feel like there's a passion drive, any sort of development beyond face value - its just there to say 'notice our brand'. Atleast, that's what it feels like.
is... is she drooling?
What happened to you was horrible, but you need to frame that abuse in a way mentally that doesn't let it control you like this. You're looking at something fairly benign, a company that has the intent of using a cartoon cute girl for a marketing tactic and immediately going to "this is pedophilia". The design isn't sexual at all either, and none of the liked tweets by the Arby's account are sexual in nature.
At the end of it, just because a character or person is cute and has a small frame doesn't mean they're a child. This kind of immediate reactionary over-emotional judgment is incredibly harmful and only leads to hatred and anger, and you're not letting yourself grow past what happened.
Hope yall dont mind if I make a waifu of Knockout
Facepunch loli waifu when?

I think the whole "brands pretending to be people" thing is really weird.
Arby-chan even goes ドキドキ (doki doki)
It's weird but it's funny in that it's completely bizarre
it's just another in a line of ways companies try to get you to pay attention to their products. it's really nothing new
