Isn't the ruling of Reach-era that S-IIs wear the typical green MJOLNIR MKV, while S-IIIs specialise? Halsey has a line upon seeing Jorge that is the equivalent of "What did you do to my armor", with him having added the yellow/red
I wouldn’t get your hopes up yet.
if he was in chanrge of Halo 5 it would've been a return to Bungie levels of writing. It would've been great. I hope to christ 343 pulls someone great out of their ass for Infinite.
First thing that better get modded for CEA is fixing Chiefs proportions so he doesn't look like Liefeld Captain America with T-Rex arms https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/210630/15e23cb4-3510-4126-9a12-193bea647497/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/210630/ec8c7a94-9191-4676-be90-2749e8214349/image.png
I believe the original plans for CEA Chief were to use the Reach Mark V armor. In E3 2011 footage they were also using the Reach AR.
They said that was placeholder IIRC.
I don't think any updates to the MK V have really done it justice. In Reach the shoulderpads protrude way too much and the helmet doesn't work for me, it doesn't seem wide enough. Also lacks some CHONK but I feel like adding his stomach pouches might fix that https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/210630/e63e0236-ee66-4a06-819f-69be2b318d2f/Master_chief_anniversary.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/210630/90b7b753-89ff-439a-bfa8-a5f42cab41ff/d344eed-76ebf453-87ba-46d5-acda-ef2a57ccda9a.jpg Here's the Combat Evolved Anniversary head on Reach Chief tho, it looks a lot better IMO https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/210630/97dd5918-6e05-4f22-a506-ef555aa675d1/5451296667_43400e704d_b.jpg
The modifications Jorge made to his armor were unique haven't been seen again until Indomitable-class Mjolnir became a thing on the GEN2 platform. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/242420/f8328dba-d53f-4127-a73b-6d76034b04e0/image.png So I'm pretty sure Halsey was less thinking, "That paintjob looks like shit, I raised you better than this" and more "Jorge, why the fuck is the $200 bmillion armor I gave you being literally held together by duct tape?"

To this day, halo reach has probably the prettiest skyboxes and most beautiful enviroment art anywhere in any genera. It's fucking incredible.
I've been trying to convince people for at least 9 years that Reach was really good. This thread makes me happy
Reach imo was the best artstyle wise. I'm a sucker for a grittier more realistic(?) look and titanfall for example, the first one looked way more appealing. Same way that reach does. Reach had the big menacing mystery alien look of the sangheili that kinda was lost after halo 1, rest of the covenant looked dope too, and the spartans looked like something more than just action figures. But they still had that "halo" feel about it. I should probably take the time to actually look and analyze the artstyle differences because man halo reach was fucking sick
For some reason Reach's artstyle never clicked with me...everything felt too 'glassy' for some reason, too smooth. Plus the really muted colours. I think this was exacerbated by the limitations of the 360. Halo 3 and ODST's artstyle is my favourite still. http://www.ascendantjustice.com/files/cocop/The%20Ark/The%20Ark%20Large/WaterfallArk-large.jpg https://cdna.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/010/955/140/large/mike-porter-arkpanfull-02.jpg?1527108898 https://i.redd.it/qkf7dld582a11.png Halo 2's matte paintings also really look good to me. Not sure why. http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20060804052402/halo/images/7/7b/SpaceElevator.jpg
xbox one and windows 10 exclusive?
Been playing MCC a little bit on my Xbone and I gotta say I really dislike the Anniversary modes. Halo 2 doesn't just look different but it also feels different, and I can't get used to the weapon sounds and how enthusiastic the announcer sounds. It's probably because it interferes with my nostalgia.
Is this Multiplayer or Campaign?
Multiplayer
Multiplayer Halo 2: Anniversary is based on Halo 4's engine, which is where the announcer comes from. Certain Affinity did make it, though, and they basically made the original Halo 2 multiplayer. Halo 2: Anniversary in campaign is much closer to to the original in both style and grace.
I had no idea there were so many people who hated reach
Have you seen Destiny's skyboxes? Whoever does the skyboxes at Bungie has set a really high bar.
reach didn't have the same impact that 2 had on me. plus i was starting to settle into the "pc gaymer fuck consoles" mindset when reach came out so i pretty much dismissed it at the time though now, i'm really excited to go back to it with an open mind
I'm excited. I've always wanted to play the series but haven't owned any consoles since PS2 and the first two don't seem to be for sale anywhere at this time other than maybe eBay.
So ODST won't drop on PC or am I getting this wrong?
Yeah, I was going full PC gamer at the time too, a lot of people seem to have been during that time. but yeah, recently played Reach again, haven't played it since basically the last DLC came out, and the weapon bloom, which I hated, wasn't as bad as I remembered it.
The fact that they mentioned ODST only as campaign makes me think that ODST Firefight isn't coming.
Yeah, I don't think it is, I think only Reach's firefight is. Hopefully they change their minds and do it after MCC is ported to PC fully.
Yeah, big reason being the misconception that they "added" bloom. It was given a visual cue in reach, but has pretty much existed in all halo games and most people that I hear complain about reach is because of bloom.
That would probably be because of the orbital plasma bombardment.
I had also had no idea Reach was divisive. I thought everyone absolutely loved it. The only things I didn't like about reach were the lack of an elite player model in multiplayer outside of certain game modes, and the fact that Armour customisation was locked behind an exp grind instead of being awarded for completing certain achievements like in Halo 3. While I appreciated the sense of progression it gave multiplayer, I also remember everyone of a certain rank having characters that looked exactly the same because everyone was just using the latest set they had unlocked last time they ranked up. Other than that I thought it was pretty good. I liked the storyline, I liked how you could have your own custom character as the protagonist, and I remember the multiplayer being really fun. Halo 3 will always be my favourite Halo game, but I didn't think there was anything wrong with Reach. Also the what they did with the ending of the Halo Reach was excellent, I wont spoil what happens, but people who have played it will know what I'm referring to when I say I love it when games do stuff like that. You can't convey that kind of experience in other mediums.
That's not the only reason; some criticisms were about how multiplayer changed (to be more COD like), or how the story/characters weren't up to snuff compared to older titles. Also I think the criticisms about bloom were more that it affects more weapons than previously and that some weapons went straight to 100% bloom instead of graduating upwards.
