Might be implemented differently in reach, that's why you're finding the tags you're finding. I don't have footage to show for 2 or 3, but if we say that bloom is bullet spread due to not timing you shots and spacing them out which I assume is what bloom is, the older games def have bloom.
Anything else from the AMA that was initially missed?

The only question that I wish he answered is one I only saw after it was over: a whole list of questions about speed running.
What is flighting? It sounds like it's just an open or closed beta but I can't say it's a term I've heard before.
Think of it like a beta you have to sign up for. It's not like the public multiplayer betas run for 3/Reach.
yeah flighting is testing phases.
Ahead of the PC launch, they've just launched an update for MCC which increases the client/server tickrate from 15/30 to 60/60

If anyone wants to hang out with us once the port drops, come swing by
I'm super excited for this. It really sounds like they're committed to making this truly Good. Very very eager to see how mod support plays out.
From the email
The initial Insider flights will focus on Halo: Reach. These PC
and Xbox One flights are targeted to kick off in a matter of weeks.
Before we begin, we wanted to provide some additional background and
help manage expectations.
“Flights” are in-development slices or builds of the game designed to
test certain features and accomplish specific goals on the road to large
scale retail release. While the team always strives to get the best
possible experience out the door, the very nature
of flighting means these builds will contain bugs (some known, some
not) and incomplete feature-sets.
In general, flights will start small and expand over time. This helps
the team ensure the build holds up and offers a worthwhile hands-on
experience for those participating. However, this means not all Halo
Insiders will be selected to participate in every
flight. We know everyone is extremely eager and excited to jump in and
get hands-on – please be patient and know that we are grateful for your
support and will do our best to get as many Insiders into flights as we
can over time.
The mods I would love to see would be ones that unifies the art and content. Making all the games have a matching art style and quality.
Weapons as well, just as SPV3 did for Halo: Custom Edition, bring weapons to and from all the games.
DMR was Reach Only, I'd love seeing it in CE, 2, ODST and 3.
The Assault Rifle was absent from Halo 2, GIMME THAT ASSAULT RIFLE
The Battle Rifle wasn't added until Halo 2 and was removed in Reach for the DMR.
Putting the Spartan Laser in Halo CE and 2 would be fun.
For me, I like the idea that's been floating around by some Halo Youtubers of modifying Halo 4's campaign to be more like your Bungie era Halo campaign. Of course, something like that would be a huge undertaking, because the issues Halo 4's campaign have are more than just "the game has sprint." We're talking actually changing how the levels and enemy encounters are designed, and if one wants to get really ambitious, how the Prometheans are designed.
I will gladly pledge to any modding Patreon for a team that wants to undertake such a thing though.
Replace all Prometheans with their Covenant equivalent. That's a quick way to deal with the gameplay issues caused by those NPCs.
Yeah, even though that kind of just removes a faction that is critical to the story of Halo 4.
I mean really, if one wanted to fix Halo 4, they'd actually have to make the campaign longer to evenly spread out the exposition dump that happens later in the campaign so it feels more natural and less overwhelming.
I think that's the biggest issue with Halo 4's story. It presents some interesting ideas, and I like the idea of exploring Chief and Cortana's relationship more in depth, but it's too much too fast. At least it's not a total garbage fire like Halo 5.
The Chief gets his evolution accelerated and all its does is give him an immunity to digitization, which doesn't even make sense. You'd think that would have some kind of effect like making him smarter or something. Instead he just walks right into a trap set by Cortana and needs rescuing by the Well Dressed squad.
The best part is that the evolution shit was never mentioned again.
I've not played through Halo 4 myself, only watching "game movie" videos on Youtube so I may have missed many parts of the story. But IMO, the story is just dreadful and Cortana's arc is the only redeeming factor.
Wait till you see how they ruined that in Halo 5
I've heard about it, but I've been honestly. terrified to look it up.
Halo story post 3 is all terrible. Makes me excited that they're trashing it for Infinite.
I'm also one who's never played Halo 4, just watched analysis videos on both sides of the argument to form my thoughts on it (I dropped Halo after Reach because I got more into PC gaming). I'll probably get it when it comes to MCC though, just to satisfy my own curiosity and solidify my own thoughts.
As for my thoughts, I honestly think Halo 4's story could've been good if it had some more breathing room (aka didn't have that massive exposition dump). If Halo 4's story was spread out and naturally picked up through more missions in the campaign, or heck, even split over another game, there could've been more time to flesh out the more interesting premises the story has to offer You would've had more time to learn about what exactly were the nuances of the Didact's motives, there could've been more fleshing out of the plot between Chief and Cortana that delves more into their history and gives their current interactions more character and depth, making the ultimatedeath of Cortanamuch more impactful. Halo 4 also ended on an interesting premise that essentially left Chief reflecting on who he actually is and what his role actually is. It would've been interesting to delve into that premise.
Too bad Halo 5 drops that premise and takes a massive dump over every interesting idea in the series in one fell swoop. Like, Halo 4 is a mess, but it at least seems like it tries to present some interesting ideas and do something unique. I can give it credit for that, and it's why I say I could've seen it being potentially good if it was better executed. Halo 5 is so terribly written bland, boring, and generic on a fundamental level that there is no fixing it. There is no opportunity to revisit it and make it good. You'd pretty much have to make your own Halo 5 from scratch and disregard the actual Halo 5 we got if you wanted a good Halo 5.
I only played the campaign for 5 once at launch and I'm still mad about it. And the only reason I even got 5 at launch was the radio drama "Hunt The Truth" which was fucking EXCELLENT and had me convinced the writing would be good. Silly fucking me.
You could fix the prometheans by making them not suck absolute dick to fight.
And also visually look like literally anything actually Forerunner.
They aren't. Halo: Infinite is still a continuation story-wise.
It's a spiritual reboot so I think they have the chance to throw away everything that didn't work
It'll be a spiritual reboot in terms of gameplay, art style, overall approach to the series etc. but story-wise it's still a continuation of the plot points that have been established by Halo 4/5 and i think those bits that didn't work In Halo 4/5 are so integral to the story that they can't be retconned out, unfortunately.
There's also a time skip IIRC.
As much as people are pissed about Halo 5, I think more people would be pissed if 343 didn't continue on from what Halo 5 set up at the end. I mean there's kind of the elephant in the room ofCortana somehow coming back to life and then becoming the main villain for the next game, so dropping that completely for a "remember the Bungie days, forget all this other nonsense" campaign is only going to serve to confuse and upset people who did play Halo 5. It's terrible baggage they set themselves up with, but they're gonna be stuck with it until they write themselves out of it.
Also, it's safe to say that going along with the rumors we've seen and the job positions 343 have put out there, Infinite still probably won't be like your traditional Halo campaign (or at least a Bungie campaign). Things like RPG elements, the world itself being open instead of just being open levels, etc.
What is gonna be retained in regards to classic Halo are things like "How does the game look? How does the game make you feel? Is it hopeful? Is there a sense of wonder and mystery?" Things like that.
In a way, I see this as 343 trying to go "back to Halo's roots", but also trying to adapt that to a more modern take or maybe even "redefine/rediscover the conventions" of what made the Bungie era Halo games so great for people without just fully copying that. Maybe something like BOTW is to Zelda.
I hope they succeed. I'll be watching from the sidelines until release as I'm sure many who bought into Halo 5's hype train will, and if general consensus comes out and says the game's good, I'll gladly buy it ASAP.
I think most people who played Halo 5 would react with "Oh that shit doesn't count? Thank god."
