• Halo coming to the PC after nearly 12 years with the Master Chief Collection

The Halo: Combat Evolved used for the Anniversary Edition was the PC port (Which also was used for MCC), so me is wondering if perhaps Halo: Custom Edition projects, maybe even as recent as SPV could find a means to be ported to MCC. I'm pretty sure the Xbox 360 mod-makers would be very keen to port/replicate such projects as Halo: Reach Evolved as well! Though having Cross-Platform File Share support (I'm sure there's more mileage to be had from requiring an Xbox Live account even on Steam than mere DRM or superfluous offerings like Xbox Achievements) would be a big head-start (An official/unofficial means to restore the old gold from the Xbox 360 titles would be even better!)
Really excited for this. Part of me is hoping it comes out soon so I can play it, but I'm betting that they'll save it as a 'one more thing, reach is out right now!!' for their E3 presentation after they show the Halo: Infinite trailer.
I wonder if they're gonna include the anniversary editions of Halo 1 and 2.
that's not expected.
I've heard too much negative stuff about Windows 10 to consider using it.
I wonder if this means each individual game will have its own UI/main menu on PC.
Almost certainly
Why don't you actually try it and see for yourself. It's a good OS.
Ive been using it since it came out and guess what, i havnt had a single problem.
Aw man I hope they're gonna make a VR port one of the games.
So.. Facepunch BTB when?
awwwe thank you <3 it certainly is can someone buy it for me
I've been waiting for 14 years. I didn't think it would happen but they did it.
Only ever played the first Halo on PC and have never had an xbox Will definitely be trying this out
Having them on PC is really great on its own, but on Steam? I never expected that, that's awesome.
How many coins do you need to convert to $$$
afaik while reach does have a little bit of ghosting artifacts on the 360 as a result of them trying to blend frames together poorly, it was a tradeoff of fps for textures, lighting, etc and it's multiplied by ghosting effects from some older TVs if it's running at 60fps, and with the attention it seems is being paid to the port, I would be very surprised if the ghosting is anywhere near as bad as it originally was. chances are good that it's either gone entirely/unnoticeable or they tweak it into something closer to motion blur
I really want this but I'm fully expecting them to be locked down
This was for a single title, and unfortunately Win10 has updates to the graphics driver layer that are required for certain fine-grained semaphore controls in DX12. DX12 on Win7 also runs with a reduced featureset, besides the reduced performance.
Have you seen Halo Wars 1 on Steam? It's a moddable .exe game, I have no doubt that each game will have mods. First order of business: Reach Forklift Racing custom games.
It's... happening... it's really really happening? I'll take back everything i've said about this and throw my wallet to the screen. I'm hyped. Don't fuck us up, M$.
I'd love to play Long Night of Solace in VR, hell sitting in any of the Halo vehicles in VR would make me lose my shit
I"m gonna go out on a limb and assume Halo 1 will be able to load custom edition maps. Most obstacles that are preventing them from doing it as easily on Xbox don't exist on PC.
Not really sure you can compare the two when this port is being handled by a completely different studio.
I was never a Halo guy but after playing destiny, I want some more of that juicy, satisfying gunplay, and I love the aesthetic of Halo.
Now I can finally finish the original trilogy. I had pretty much given up all hope of ever completing the series on PC. *Ultrawide Thanks based Microsoft!
Staggering the releases to help build hype and give us a reason to buy them separately get them out "as soon as possible". Nice. I've thought MS stupid for years for not doing this, should have known even when they give up and decide to milk this cow they'd still be a pain in the ass about it.
Microsoft cashing in on that massive money pit
I do remember Digital Foundry mentioning that the reason that ghosting was there, was because it was a very early form of TAA. Which makes sense. I just distinctly remember it cause it made me nauseous playing after awhile
According to Steam it contains the Halo 1 & 2 Anniversary Editions, Halo 3, Halo Reach, Halo ODST and Halo 4. I really hope you're able to install them all as separate games, though, otherwise it'll take ages to download all of them at once on my internet, but whatever I'm stoked as fuck either way. I'll happily wait a week to download it.
