I've no idea on an alternative, but I know the feeling, and it's a shame how these daft decisions have basically killed off a portion of users, or at least hit their motivation; Tumblr was one of the perfect sites for harbouring smaller, more personal communities where no matter what the post, the focus would always drive back to the individual users, and you could clearly get a grasp of the key circles around certain topics. With Twitter, everything's so instant, vast in volume, and somewhat disposable to the point where it doesn't feel proper to try and emulate the same circles & posts again.
Tumblr was far from perfect, but it was a solid place to create content and to find friendly, like-minded people - Twitter on the other hand doesn't give you much when it comes to figuring out who to follow.
But guys it won't affect it!!! just u wait n c
Alexa is only good for very general sense of popularity. For the top websites it simply doesn't have any useful information for you.
