Politics has never been about honesty or integrity, it's about how you can drum up support for your cause through any means possible. This not even human garbage is further proof of that, considering he downplayed everything about the attackers to begin with.

This is pretty standard Australian politics sadly. I won't get too deep into our political troubles since this isn't really the time, but we also have a guy who runs a party called "Australia First", but is in deep with the Chinese and wants them to invade everything. We also haven't had a PM serve a full term since like 2007 or something. So that should give you at least a vague idea how fucked our political system is. If your first thought when it comes to a tragedy like a mass murder and act of terrorism isn't "is the killer apprehended", "are the families okay", but instead "who is the blame for this person committing an inhuman, atrocious act that isn't the person themselves", you are part of the problem. I don't give a shit about Pewdiepie. He said stupid shit. He's insanely popular on Youtube. He's a guy with a funny accent that said a racist slur on a stream, and that isn't okay. Pewdipie didn't pull the trigger. This sick, twisted, subhuman individual did. Just like before: Metal didn't pull the trigger. Custom DOOM maps didn't pull the trigger. The sick twisted individuals who should go unnamed, faceless, and unknown but are paraded on media like some sort of backwards and almost ironic martyrdom, pulled the trigger. The focus should be put on the atrocity itself and the fact that it still happens so frequently in modern society. I'm not here to defend Pewdiepie, but you shouldn't fucking be asking "wow why is pewdiepie such a piece of shit for this person that watched his video", you should be asking "what can i do to help?", or "what can i do to prevent this from happening in the future?"

The thought to help or prevent doesn't even cross the mind of people like this. The only thoughts that cross their mind are; How can I blame this on someone else to validate my personal opinions. How can this benefit me either financially or personally. (Mostly likes/followers cuz that seems like all these people care about.) How can I redirect this to be about something completely unrelated to what it's actually about and exaggerate it as greatly as possible.

After reading the shit the guy said he was doing this on purpose. He specifically mentioned PDP and other popular people because he knew it would cause people to hate them. He even says Fornite and Spyro the dragon taught him to be a white nationalist. I'm surprised he didn't claim it was in the name of PETA or something as an ironic stab against them as well. Someone posted his face on Twitter and the first thing that came to my mind was "yeah seems about right." and I've got no idea why. He just had a look about him that seemed pretty off. Guess that's hindsight kicking in. No way anyone would have picked up on that before any of this happened.

It's retroactive identification, I suppose. I've already forgotten the cunt's face myself (as I have with as many shooters as I can) but usually this sort of attitude is borne out of the fact that the perpetrators of these attacks are generally just average-looking, sometimes physically flawed people, and after we find out they're the perpetrators of an atrocity, any element of them that would be otherwise benign becomes a point to further despise them for. Which I'm not even remotely intimating is a bad thing, because these people deserve nothing less than the full process of damnatio memoriae.

Sadly, people will use the same techniques they demonize when it fits their agenda. If you flip subscribe to PewDiePie to Allahu Akbar then the discussion would be the exact opposite. The people on the right would be blaming Islam and the people on the left would be saying you can't blame Islam for the radicalization of a single person. Theres overlap but 8chan tends to be worse. 4chan still has some ok parts (I browse some thread on /vr/ every now and then) but sadly /pol/ has invaded a lot of the normal boards and always make racist comments the moment a character who isn't white appears.

4chan is old and its sub sections are very varied in terms of who inhabit them. Yes, /pol/ and some other boards are contaminated with alt-right shit, but most boards aren't. 8chan has this reddit-esque "create your own forum" sorta thing, which means it harbors people of all kinds. A lot of them being alt-righters, of course, as it's a perfect place for their edgy discourse. I've never actually visited 8chan so idk about how bad the spread is, but I imagine it also has a lot of harmless boards. What they need is different moderation. But then we'll just get a new xchan with even less rules. I don't think it's very easy to deplatform this many people.
