Who would have thought Australia and NZ would be the first to do this.
How is it that after all the mass-shooting in the US, very little is done. Yet 1 mass-shooting happens in NZ, and they have already blocked 4/8chan and have banned a popular racist from entering the country?
That made me so sad.
Bunch of fucking cowards. Do you need that many people to hold a kid?
Just glad the kid's okay. No major injuries or sentence. Just one hell of a scare tho.
Sadly our government currently has a right wing and right-moderate infighting problem right now and they have flip-flopped on banning Milo from coming in about 4 times now. There is an election soon that doesn't look too hot for them so I'm hoping they stick to it this time.
Thanks to mods for being proactive about preventing his manifesto and provocations from being posted here, few websites are even trying to avoid spreading his shit.
Mass shootings like this aren't as shocking when they happen in the US as they tend to happen on a fairly regular basis and there's never any real push from the US government to prevent them, so its kind of become normalized.
New Zealand kind of had this feeling around it that it had been able to keep out of all the terrorist shit going around the world, and this has shattered that illusion and come to a real shock for a lot of people.
I figure this thread could use a bit more positivity. I watched this excellent Ted Talk of an ex leader of a white supremacist group who left the movement and has been helping others leave for almost twenty years now. He brings up some excellent points about how people end up joining the movement and how these ideologies spread and I feel it's worth watching in light of recent events.

Hope it's not off-topic, I just couldn't get all the shit I've read on /pol/ lately out of my head and wanted to hear a more positive story relating to the subject and I'm sure others feel the same.
Though I fear I might be starting a discussion that has been avoided for 24 pages (somehow, it must be a record), that's not likely to happen. New Zealand has some of the highest gun ownership rates in the West and shooters make up a large voting block. For comparison, after that shooting in Norway, despite killing 77 people, mostly teenagers, Norway didn't ban semi-auto centre rifle rifles. Modern shooting groups know full well they have to fight every change tooth and nail, because once they're gone, they won't get those guns back. They're also far more coordinated, with the internet at their disposal.
The guy also only had a Cat A licence (if the news reports were right), which does not authorise a person to have magazines over 7 rounds for a semi-auto centrefire rifle. So he wasn't compliant with the law. There will be questions raised there. Same with how this fuckwit passed the background checks. Given he was using his real name on his Twitter account, it should have immediately set off a red flag.
Satisfying to watch, what a cunt.
Had a friend shared the shooting in a whatsapp group chat
What's the fucking point
Yes. They do say on a lot of the reports he "modified" the weapons, but don't really go into much more detail than that.
Regardless, I think it's a bit up in the air. We'll see what happens.
Oh yeah, absolutely nothing is certain in that area.
This horrible tragedy and the Internet's reaction to it makes me non-ironically wish people had to register with their IDs to access Reddit and the like. The amount of "the guy's a bit of a nutter, but hey muslims are evil invaders" is just
overwhelming. Leaves me to hope that one day the fuckers will have to face their own shit. I know this crime isn't the first of its kind, but holy fuck people are horrible psychopaths.
Welcome to the end result of 2 decades of most media telling people that muslims are evil.
There's a significant amount of people out there that simply won't feel sympathy for muslims no matter what happens.

Saw this being passed around by racists saying /pol/ is compromised. That’s the board owner of 8ch’s /pol/ (not site admin, but person who made and/or runs the individual board of pol) condemning what’s happening.
im not sure what the drawing they added to his statement is, I think it’s supposed to be him tongueing merkel or something
Just going through the thread in that archive.is link further cements my convictions that these kinds of places never should've sprung up. What an utter mess this has all devolved into.
And these incidents with Anning just further go to show that this culture war is finally reaching a boiling point...
I was just looking for threads on Reddit about the movie Black Hawk Down and this thread popped up:
https://old.reddit.com/r/The_Donald/comments/arn1mn/wanna_see_the_kind_of_savages_the_brotherfucker/?st=jtbhu7nb&sh=4ef67453
The irony is the people posting in t_d are the kind of "low IQ savages" they're targeting.
I've just finished reading about 20 pages of this thread and I'm still absolutely baffled regarding your discussion regarding Pewdiewpie, and I'm not talking about his political spectrum. I doubt the shooter had any intentions whatsoever when he namedropped PDP, and I'm very sure it was not "all part of his master evil plan to divert the media's attention and to take down the largest YouTuber".
He spent the entire time spouting memes, his guns had memes written all over it, hell even the music was all memes. He name dropped PDP because he thought it would be funny and edgy, nothing more and nothing less.
Fraser getting egged after his retarded statement regarding the terror attack.

What a fucking chad
What steps is 8chan taking to improve moderation? Are they going to delete the subsection? Or are they going to keep a prominent link to it on the front page of their website? Right now I can only assume that the answer to these questions are no, nothing, and yes, because as far as I can see this is the only statement they've made:
https://twitter.com/infinitechan/status/1106894519859974144?s=09
In my view, if you imagine that all of the content and the tone on /pol/ was exactly the same, but instead of white supremacism it was based around support for radical Islamism, the defence that "they're just jokes/memes!!" would hold absolutely zero water and the FBI would have taken the site down months or years ago.
It's not a good idea to, even facetiously for point of argument, encourage that sort of thing Smurfy.
He gave an example to make a point... oh no.
Lol sure thing 8chan... within the last 12 hours I checked the site and they still had links on the front page to reuploads of the original thread/shitshow where everyone responding was still praising the guy as a “hero”.
Holy shit.
I guess this is what's gonna push me to not bothering with going on 4chan anymore.
Even smaller boards like /o/ are getting filled with this shit. It's really helping me see how much of a negative place it is for the most part, regardless of which board, and not really worth going on anymore.
If you wanna boycott 4chan out of principle I think that's fine and even respectable but I don't think the point anybody is making here is that all of 4chan is shit and you shouldn't use it. I think it's more that if they are not gonna make the effort to moderate and remove toxic boards like /pol/ then an authority should step in and hold them responsible - untill then I don't see the harm in going on whatever boards you usually do and talk about whatever interesting stuff you like to talk about.

its not out of boycotting or doing it out of principle or anything like that.
It's just a miserable place with almost zero positivity and people talking shit and nothing but shit.
4chan has a very crab bucket mentality: anyone who tries to better themselves will be brought down by everyone else.
Frazier Anning’s twitter account is gone
