I like this post up until the whole pussy thing, telling incels to just go out and get some pussy is kinda dense... Insert you had me in the first half meme etc etc
itd certainly help though
I still see it
Kinda like how if depressed people could just get over it that'd help
It's not though? I just checked and it was still there.
Weird, his tweet was blanked out for "violating twitter rules" then when I tried to find it search just brought up twitter posts where his tag wasn't a link
I know but that's acting as if being an incel is the same as being depressed: that's just giving them too much credit.
Are you implying incels aren't mentally ill? The false notion that "getting pussy" solves all your problems is exactly what causes these insane people to obsess over their virginity the way they do. I shudder at the thought of /r/braincels regulars getting laid and realizing literally nothing changes. Some of them already know it and are just latching onto a community of mentally ill, weak-willed virgins with propaganda to further their hostility toward women.
They're not the same, no, but they are similar in the sense that they're both complex "conditions" that involve self-destructive behaviour and taking a high-horse and spouting snarky zingers helps nobody except making the self-rightous person doing it feel superior. I agree, they need to stop acting as if they're obligated to sex but saying that is basically the same as saying they need to stop being incels, like that's the whole issue, you're not contributing anything to help deal with the issue.
You'll see that sort of shit on any completely anonymous platforms. At least on places like FP or Reddit, you've got usernames that identify a given user and allow others to call out assholes. The sad truth is, a lot of people only behave decently because social pressure constrains them to. Remove those constraints, and those people are free to let loose. Such "free" platforms also attract this particular type of character for the same reason. That's why these places are and will stay toxic, especially if moderation remain as lax as it's been so far. It doesn't surprise me that those platforms are breeding grounds of choice for radical and violent ideologies.
Definitely enjoying the fact that both Reddit and 8chan are questioning themselves about their ethics in the wake of this event. That's more than I expected.
An incel who has sex becomes a MGTOW
You're thinking /r/watchpeoplefuckingdie which is the joke one of people dying inside or getting injured doing stupid stuff. /r/watchpeopledie has always been shit like people getting beheaded
It's good to see that reality has hit them harder than they thought possible, regulars to these sites that spit out their insane views must be shitting themselves right about now as they are most definitely on a watch list at this point. The other side of the argument though, I'd never thought I'd see so many people on Facepunch calling for wider censorship imposed upon everyone, not sure how I quite feel about that.
Where did you see 8chan questioning themselves? As for Reddit, they banned a handful of subs but gave a wide berth to the biggest and most harmful (and thus financially juicy) ones. It's just posturing for PR, nothing to commend them for.
It’s inside threads, stated by 8ch pol’s head mod, 8ch admins compliant etc. there’s a crisis over there of people who were pro-speech/pretending realizing they’re among people who are real threats. Meanwhile, the serious nazis are claiming 8ch is taken over by “kikes” and spamming links to a new chan and getting deleted/banned for it. The homepage for the new Chan had pizzagate/qanon boards featured. I’m curious to see what comes in April cuz 8ch admins usually release a “transparency statement” at the end of every month relating to actions taken out of legality/intervention. but yeah, spez has often talked about t_d being too big a target and that deleting it outright with no viable reason will validate their position, but at this point it’s gone on so long and had so many opportunities that it does feel like they’re ignoring it deliberately. Other horrible subs still stand, WPD has been brought up at every deletion notice for years. I wonder how many more trump cards they have to pull like that before t_d’s number is up
Someone posted a while ago that mods actively removed threads praising the shooter and discussing his manifesto. And then there was the owner who was revolted at this whole tragedy. Better than nothing.
Until t_d gets removed and all replacement subs along with it Reddit is part of the problem.
I've always found it weird how easily people accept the "it's just a joke" defence of...literally anything. It feels like it ties into the wider culture of how you're not supposed to care about things, and that caring is for losers; the moment you start taking something designated a joke as anything more than just a joke, you you've basically "failed". And considering how widespread that philosophy is, lots of people become useful idiots for all sorts of bollocks whipped up by the far-right, because they simply cannot entertain the idea of seriously caring and help to suppress any negative backlash and muddy the conversation.
This is tangential to the main conversation but I bet thq is glad they didn't double down on the 8chan ama being fine like some people seemed to have wanted.
Jesus Christ dude
you are an incredibly sad individual. how the fuck can you bring in a video game company to this?
Serious question: where do you draw the line? Would deleting T_D be the start of a censorship slippery slope, in your mind?
I'd imagine T_D being up also has to do with it being a subreddit for Trump fans? I mean he is the president so that does give it some legitimacy.
The place is a masturbatory celebration of an absolute dip-shit who happens to be president, yes.
Don't get me wrong, I completely agree with you, I'm just saying that it does give it some legitimacy.
I literally never saw that sub do anything that could be construed as 'glorifying or encouraging violence'. Tasteless, sure, feeding morbid curiosity, absolutely, but glorifying violence? Nah. They banned it because it doesn't look good to advertisers to have people re-posting footage from a high-profile tragedy, not because it broke any of Reddit's stated rules.
actually the video was banned and the were cracking down really hard on anyone sharing it
How dare this little shit appropriate Hunyadi
Believe it or not I believe the slippery slope started with Alex Jones. The guy has mental issues for sure but when big social media execs took the time to consider his removal from almost all platforms because he spoke about Sandyhook they crossed a threshold and since then I've been seeing lots of liberal lefties calling for various other people to be deplatformed. I'd much rather a world where we make more effort to push factual evidence in debate rather than forcefully silence people on the internet because we view them as extreme. It's only gonna be a matter of time before we start silencing people based on their political views and just create an echo chamber. I'm really not familiar with T_D and their general behavior, but I'd rather them speak out in the open where they can be challenged instead of forcing them into speaking privately and feeling further victimized. The act of silencing them can be a huge push to radicalization too, it's pretty authoritarian in nature anyway. Reddit however can police itself how it sees fit though obviously.
