As I lightly touched upon on in my "detached memes" post - I don't see it so much as "coping", but rather just a general detachment to such an extent that they probably want the other 8Chan onlookers to laugh at the absurdity of "seeing triggered libtards reeing over 'subscribe to PewDiePie' jokes" amidst the larger tragedies at hand.
That point may sound kind of weird, but to phrase it differently - I guess it's like a (much more severe) equivalent of the one guy who shouted out "PEPE!!" during a Hillary Clinton speech in the 2016 US Election.
As in to say, I don't think they are using the memes for coping or dog-whistling, but rather, I think they see a nihilistic comedic appeal in having people that are "out of touch with meme culture" acting aghast in horror at having niche memes make a cameo appearance during mainstream discussions of larger tragedies.
It's kind of a bizarre talking point to articulate, but does that somewhat get my idea across?
There is not much else relevant on that page, just the shooter's comments on other Muslim-related happenings in the world and some information about the locations he intended to visit, all posted well in advance of his stream. The images are hosted here and should remain up regardless.

I'd wager this guy uses 4chan's /pol/ and used 8chan's for this because back in the day it was claimed that 8chan is fully encrypted and routinely wiped and thus was hoping hotwheels wouldn't have the information to give to the police, because 4chan absolutely would be able to track you.
