Oh shit. That's a welcome surprise. I was sure Doom Eternal would be a Bethesda exclusive, and I would have to skip it as a result. Fuck yes. Thank you lords of hell.
That should be the default, not something to announce.
Epic exclusive one day later
We're back to the 2009 days of it being big news when a game is coming to Steam
woah what about gog
i dont have a problem with using other launchers for games provided they dont suck ass. that being said, i would rather tear my dick off and eat it than use the bethesda launcher again.
Pre-purchase Rage 2 on Steam Releasing the same day as other platforms.
Honestly, I would have gotten DOOM Eternal regardless of whether it was exclusive or not. But I'm glad it's not.
I'll believe it when I see it, cautious optimism.
Fuck yes... FALOUT 76 IS COMING TO STEAM!!!
I wonder how well the port job will be
Fallout 76 train has sailed for me but always interested in more Wolfenstein.
No, no, no. Don't support the idea of a Steam monopoly. "Being on Steam should be the default" is such a dangerous mindset.
They're probably gonna do what Ubisoft does with U Play and still have you launch through the Beth launcher though
Good to see someone is listinening to all the complaining about launcher-based exclusives, even if it is just these clowns
Exactly. It's bizarre to see a consumerbase actively asking for a monopoly like it's a good thing.
Quake Champions requires a Beth.net account yet doesn't use the launcher itself.
I don't see him saying it should be Steam exclusive, being able to choose where you buy or play it should be the norm.
Good to see that they're comming onto Steam, was worried that they'd remain Bethesda.net exlusives. Dislike using the Bethesda.net launcher, as it is rather barebones and annoying to use.
Probably due to the fact that no one buys anything on their launcher. 76 flopped big time, and it being exclusive there didn't help their bank account one bit. Shows that making your game exclusive to a single platform doesn't always mean success.
Good move to save face. I was already planning on buying these games on Bethesda but now I can buy them on my platform of choice
Will gladly pick up Rage 2 when it comes out.
I had never even heard of Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot until today. Turns out it's a VR game. Okay.
They'll probably still ask for full price the shit show Fallout 76 is
I didn't say that they implied that it should be Steam exclusive. I interpreted the post as "being on Steam should be default." Not exclusively on Steam, but "by default, games should be going on Steam." I mean, correct me if I'm wrong Zadrave.
Well, the one want to stop a monopoly beyond an investigation from the national goverment would be to offer competitive features for publisher/developers and end users. GOG has all of their games being completely DRM free, and Epic has their revenue split for the time being, but Bethesda's launcher is in the Origin and Uplay camp, the "taking my ball and going home" move. Bethesda's launcher also runs like shit, worse than EGS in its current state, and it's filesize is a little over 4.5 times the size of its smallest competitor. https://i.imgur.com/62QFG89.png
You're right. Bethesda should get their shit together. But (assuming my interpretation is correct) essentially asking for a monopoly and feeling on service should be the default distributor is not the way to go.
But the monopoly platform also happens to be the platform that's more user friendly. I don't like monopolies, but so far Steam does a lot better than most other launchers. I'll gladly shop at other stores if they improve, but so far it seems like no one besides Steam wants to. Until Bethesda gets their shit together I honestly don't see a reason to shop there.
Well they're still selling Fallout 76 for £49.99 on the Bethesda.net store, which was the same price at release. Although, this could change by the time it releases on Steam. Prices were only dropped back then was due to Black Friday sales and stuff.
