Do American cards not have a PIN? You know, the number that’s not on the card?
We have a PIN, but you plug it in after inserting the chip, so if the chip isn't working, you're not gonna get that far
So which numbers do you input if the chip doesn’t work? I’ve been trying to google it.
If the pin doesn't work, usually the cashier just inputs the number manually on their terminal. Wherein lies the problem here.
I just can't believe they still haven't released AirPower jfc. That's prob what most people were expecting from today's event.
Even better is using Samsung Pay via a Gear S3, since it uses MST it works pretty much any payment terminal even those without NFC. Nothing better then going to use it, having the person say "We don't have Apple Pay", then it working.
don't compare yourself to the worst, compare yourself to the best and even then, Google's idea sounds much better than this glorified unneeded replacement for a credit card which I'm sure people are gonna find a way to hack the fuck out of And this is coming from someone who didn't give a shit about Stadia.
I think it’s interesting that it has no fees.
lots of credit cards have no fees
I wouldn't mind owning this to use as my default card if a place accepts Apple Pay for the 2% cash back.
Well, obviously it does - I was thinking more along the lines of how the cash back, interest rate and the fees compare, because I honestly have no clue.
Is the only way to buy stuff online in the US by using creditcards? Is there no direct debit payment system like we have over here?
We have PayPal on just about everything.
I mean we all know this is going to be overpriced and everyone who gets one is going to get a shit deal but honestly, being a victim of card fraud, this isn't a terrible idea, practically everywhere here accepts contactless/android/apple pay, and I don't remember a time chip and pin hasn't worked for me, the only times I use my card number is ccv is when buying stuff online
Oof, just steal my bank account now. No need for a middle man.
Google Goldman Sachs Controversies and their promise wont sound too promising anymore
You can, but consumer fraud protections on credit cards are lot stronger than debit transactions in the US. You have only two days to report fraud on debit cards before your liability goes up considerably, as opposed to credit cards, its 60 days. That's also your actually account money. If your account was drained, your SOL until the bank gets your money back whereas a credit card is more of an inconveniece since its the bank's money. Its kind of a no brainer to use a credit card if you have one in those scenarios.
