Rockland County Executive Ed Day cited a state law, which gives local officials sweeping powers “in the event of reasonable apprehension of immediate danger” to the public. The declaration was the most aggressive step taken by New York health officials since the outbreak began in Oct. 2018. “Effective at the stroke of midnight, Wednesday, March 27, anyone who is under 18 years of age and unvaccinated against the measles will be barred from public places until this declaration expires in 30 days or until they receive the MMR vaccination,” Day said at a press conference. The public spaces include schools, stores, places of worship and public transit. Local police will not be asking for documentation of vaccinations, but they will enforce it retroactively if a parent is found to have allowed their unvaccinated kids into the public spaces, according to the county. The New York City suburb has been one of the hardest hit by measles due to low vaccination rates in ultra-Orthodox communities. Day noted that health officials are working with rabbis to increase vaccination rates to restore herd immunity.

Not vaccinating infringes on the right of people who need to rely on herd immunity to participate in society. Don't take part in vaccinations, then don't take part in society. Seems fair to me.

As much as I agree with vaccinations, I will never be ready to support this shit. I know this is satirical and all, but I for one don't want these anti-vaxxers to start becoming terrorist. Isolating them is fine enough.

It doesn't have to literally be tackling people to ensure they've got vaccinations. It starts as easily as mandating that hospitals vaccinate newborns, and similarly keep a registry associated with social security numbers.

Social media allows disinformation to spread like crazy. A lie can travel halfway around the world before the truth has finished tying its shoes. I also think people have gotten extremely complacent with vaccines. Because we have not had a major outbreak thanks to vaccines, people are beginning to question the effectiveness of them. I'm almost certain the mommy groups that spread anti-vaxx are vaccinated themselves, and likely don't even know that themselves. Instead the attribute a "strong immune system" to not getting sick instead of vaccines.
