He doesn't own the game anymore, and he is in the credits. He's a publicity liability anymore, and keeping his name off the front page of the game is necessary.
I don't want easily impressionable kids to idolize someone who believes in dangerous conspiracies.

He's still listed in the credits, so his "legacy" and "immortalization" are intact. It would be legally impacting if he was erased from the credits. It's absolutely trivial if he is removed from mention in the splashscreen text file. You are seriously overreacting.

Notch was always socially awkward and had been suffering from depression for a long time. Being thrust into wealth and spotlight made all that worse, which is a shame particularly because it could've very well had the opposite effect had he made better decisions.
He decided to move to America, buy an extravagant mansion, fill it with lavish cars and go to parties with celebrities. Those are not things that make anyone happy. They're the kind of things you come up with when you think "what do wealthy people spend their money on".
Exactly why I've been thinking how much of a shame this all is. I want him to go back to making games, not shitposting on twitter all day.

He's still the original creator of the game, the fact that people internally at Mojang and Microsoft have since massively improved the code doesn't change that fact
I talked to him a couple of times when he was still just some random guy and Minecraft hadn't blown up yet, and he seemed like such a chill and down to earth dude. Sweclockers also did an interview with him just a couple of months after it'd really blown up and become 'The Next Big Thing' and he'd already raked in millions. He was still his chill, humble self, joking about his shitty coding and that it was far from perfect but honestly the best he could do, that he wasn't some kind of software engineer but a hobbyist programmer, and that Minecraft started off as a simple hobby project, something to fuck around and experiment with in his spare time, saying that it's success was more akin to winning the lottery than anything else.
So I still don't understand when and why he suddenly snapped and became an insane retard with a massive ego, after/during the Microsoft buy-out?

As far as I know he's in a really bad spot mentally and probably has some actual issues. He lost his wife and friends over the years and it's clearly worn on his mental stability.
I had been following Notch on twitter for quite a few years and had to unfollow him a few days ago as he has went full batshit. I handled the shitposts and a bit of racism/supremacism but there is a faint line somewhere, where I have to unfollow you and he crossed it.
For comparsion, I follow things from shitposts to current active politics things. Notch was more in the shitpost/tumblrina range, where everything doesn't matter.
Uh, he claimed Pizzagate was real over a year ago. He's been far more than just a shitposter for a while now.

While this is wrong on a conceptual level.
On a code level, most of Notch's code has been fucking trashed. As soon as Notch hired a new leader programmer, the guy immediate began marking and commenting on literally everything Notch wrote about how it was either A. Garbage that needed to be fixed or B. Trash that needed to be removed. Modern Minecraft has very little of Notch's original coding.
