Hot damn, good luck getting a PC that's gonna run those at 90fps though. I guess it could be seen as a form of future proofing
Just waiting on a price point. If it's anywhere comparable to the WMR headsets out there, I may end up getting it. If it's still Vive prices (probably will be due to lighthouse tracking), not touching it. Honestly, while inside-out tracking isn't perfect by any means, it's more than good enough for most VR cases. It's also much less painless to set up. VR is only more accessible because of it.
I thought the hardware division had huge layoffs?
Great, I just got offered a few days ago to purchase a vive for $100, and now i'm conflicted because I have no idea how much this will cost and no idea what the benefits of it will be over the vive.
Even running it at 1080p and upscaling would result in a way better image than native 1080p output.
They laid off 13 people. The media just took some rumors about it and reported it as fact. Valve has spent the last 5 years building their hardware team, they were never gonna just shut it down.
Outside of the steam machines which was just obviously silly, this is just objectively false. Vive is making insane dough.
I mean I like to play DCS in VR, but it's incredibly taxing, and it would benefit the most from a higher res display.

Valve plans to have a full announcement of the product on May 1st, with preorders starting that day. Lombardi does say that the ship date may shift around, but the company is targeting some time in June. Valve’s Index VR headset will ship this June, with preorders sta..
I'm unclear, does the headset with controllers and base station? The screenshot from the product page makes it seem like not.
seperate product pages with bundles available.
Considering its intercompatible with older hardware, its probably for people who already have the vive. I personally would like to just get the controllers
