Russia’s Shotgun-Wielding Drone Is the Flying Nightmare You Didn’t Know You Had

Because unlike unlike video games and movies, shotguns loaded with 00 buckshot are lethal at 52 yards
I thought the wall of pellets magically vanished after ten feet???
Honestly though it's surprising you don't see drones used more often in the military. At the very least a small flying camera is useful for taking a look into places where A man is liable to get shot.
A lot of you people are missing the implication here. A predator drone is fuck huge and against an Air/Anti-air competent force its gonna get fucked by SAMs or interceptors before its anywhere close to anything important. This thing is scary because its small as shit and cold as fuck, both of which make it extremely hard to detect, especially if you paint the thing sky blue. One of those crazy antimortar CIWS systems used by the Army is pretty much the only thing deployed right now that has a good chance of consistent detection, and the rounds used to shoot it down would probably exceed the price of the drone anyways. Furthermore those things can only covered relatively fixed installations, not John Smith and squad patrolling somewhere in bumfuckistan. John Smith and Co rely on the mark 1 eyeball to find things, and this drone is going to be high up and hard to see.
Air supports not going to help either since theres literally nothing a plane can do about a drone this small. The real threat this thing poses is that its essentially a semi-autonomous sniper thats hard as fuck to spot, and the only real potential defense here is to try and Jam its control signal, and that only works if it has no autonomous functionality.
This thing is a super cost effective way to harass infantry and go after high value individual targets. This thing is literally probably just a drone frame with an attachment point for likely any gun, which means that this thing costs like 200 bucks at most since Russia can just get the gun from its fuck huge stockpile of firearms.
Depending on how accurate one of these can be made its essentially a 200~$ sniper that needs no food, is hard to see, can get into a very high vantage point, doesn't need pay, and no one gives a fuck if you lose literally thousands of them.
