On the one hand, my knee-jerk reaction is "ignorant old person getting angry about technology", but on the other hand, he isn't entirely wrong about the addiction thing what with how prevalent Skinner boxes and other exploitative practices have become. Once upon a time, the "gaming addiction" argument was indeed just an excuse by Luddites to bash on the new rock-and-roll, but games nowadays aren't made in the same benign spirit that games back then were. Many games nowadays are designed to addict.
Whether Fortnite is one of those, I can't personally say. My computer can barely run it and I don't have Switch Online, so...
he's 34. he's not some old fuddy duddy, and as much as he sucks, he's absolutely spot on about fortnite.
it's manipulative as all fuck, and crying "bad parenting" is just giving epic a free pass for all the scummy shit going down in the game
I can see why Fortnite is not a good influence on kids
A few years back, there was the whole Minecraft boon among kids and honestly, Minecraft is a great game for kids, it's creative, not violent, and doesn't get them addicted to any form of microtransactions
Fortnite on the other hand is really predatory on children, I feel, having been around a handful of these "fortnite kids" myself
