This thread is right, looks like Speedracer and Alita will stay the only two live actions adaptations of anime made with any love for the source material.
Astro Boy?
.....I wasnt even aware that was a thing and its on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=No9pQST3K3c looks ok
This is true if you only include Hollywood, Japan has made plenty of adaptions that are actually really good movies.
USA is the only planet on Earth.
Really? I've heard a lot of negative things about Japanese live-action adaptations, especially when it comes to things like celebrity casting.
Go watch a few instead of going by hearsay and make up your own mind. This obviously requires you to have read the adapted manga / anime to really judge it as an adaption. Most of the hate on adaptions comes from OG fans sperging out that their favorite arc/char/scene didn''t make it into the movie, or as you mentioned the actors don't fit the role as they envisioned it(Which to be frank is downright impossible given the look of modern manga)
