This is heart-breaking to watch.
Seems like they do indeed have the Notre Dame plans. So it will be rebuilt. Still, this is just saddening.
Jesus Christ you can see the fire inside the towers. If even one of them collapses, I'm gonna cry.
Jesus, I visited it this summer! im almost crying... how can a repairing mistake cause such a catastrophic fire?
What the hell is wrong with you.
The fuck is wrong with you?
More appropriate with the Make Donald Trump 8 Again Chrome extension, to be honest:

Have some respect guys a building just lost its life!!
Lol get your priorities in order
Blowpipe accident maybe?
Wow, it's almost like people are able to care about more than one thing at once!
Thanks for this valuable contribution to the discussion
Does anybody here who knows a bit about renovation/construction have any ideas about what sort of things involved can cause fires? I'm pretty ignorant on that sort of thing so I was surprised to hear it was related to the renovation and am a little curious.
I'm seeing a lot of embers now. That means the fire is finally starting to die down. Thank God.
Nope, some good news:

Good news: all the artworks have been saved. The treasure of the cathedral is intact, the crown of thorns, the holy sacraments. #OUR LADY
That is a tremendous relief. Huge credits to the firefighters.
Sans the glassworks, I suppose.
Damn, watching this is so sad and surreal. Never thought I'd see such a large cultural building burn down/get destroyed in my lifetime.
At the very least I hope the towers can be spared. Thank goodness the artifacts and the people inside are safe and out of the way though.
Kinda reminds me of the cucklefuck that fucked up Ecco Homo (Behold the Man in English before anyone gets cross) in Spain.

Just because it's something that isn't living doesn't mean people can still have feelings for it, even if they've never seen it themselves.
they can rebuild it right?
Like most french people I am ok with any part of paris being on fire
There have been a few cultural relics getting destroyed in our lifetime, though I'd say this is probably the most iconic as far as Western culture goes. Al Qaeda and ISIS did a number on relics and historical sites in Afghanistan and Iraq/Syria, respectively.
I mean, FP's most funny rated post is a Sonic joke about some kid who drowned, which is clearly more grave than what's happening here. It's more a matter of actually being funny than not being inappropriate.
Is it really 100% accurate except the organ?
That's fucking awesome (I don't mean awesome as in great alternative but as in - impressive how far game development goes into doing that).
With how often cathedrals have been ransacked and burned across France, yes they can.
Any word if the bells will be okay?
It's not fully accurate, here's an article about it:

Watch them stick a modern art monstrosity in its place.
If anyone gets crossed then they're a fucking idiot considering "homo" just means "man" or "human" in Latin.
I remember watching a discovery show a few years ago where they were using lidar to 3d model the entire cathedral. now those plans they generated may be the only way we can ever rebuild.
However tragic this is, cathedrals are a piece of living history, the people who laid the first stones never lived to see it completed, nor did their children's children. We lost a lot today but we will add to this collective work by rebuilding it.
